You may already have heard of SAP's two data warehousing solutions, SAP BW4 HANA for on-premise customers, and SAP Datasphere for cloud customers. These are ideal for customers who wants an out-of-the-box application that gives them a fast start. But some customers have very specific requirements that cannot easily be handled with these ready-made solutions. So, they prefer to develop a custom data warehouse from scratch. SAP provides a powerful platform and all the tools that you need to support the development of a custom data warehouse. The platform is SAP HANA, and the tools are provided by SAP to create custom data models and the data flows from any source systems using your own design. This learning journey will help you to develop the skills needed to build a custom data warehouse on SAP HANA. There are three units in this learning journey. We start with a short introduction to data warehousing, and we will explain why SAP HANA is the perfect foundation on which to build a custom data warehouse. We'll look at the tools of SAP HANA, and show you how to get started with your development project. In the next unit, we are in the design phase and we will explore the various architectures and data models, such as Data Vault and Star Schemas. We then move on to the development of the data warehouse where we first build the persistence layer, followed by the virtual layers using a combination of SQL and graphical tools. Each unit includes clear explanations and plenty of easy to follow system demonstrations. At the end of each unit, you'll be tested on the key topics to ensure you're on the right track. After completing this learning journey, you'll be ready to join a custom data warehousing project using SAP HANA.
