Communicating Footprints

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to communicate the calculated footprints from SAP Sustainability Footprint Management to SAP Sustainability Control Tower

Overview

You need to outline the specific environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects that the reporting organization wants to measure, manage, and report to set the scope relevant for corporate steering in SAP Sustainability Footprint Management. This includes identifying the relevant sustainability indicators, defining the boundaries of what will be included in the assessment, and establishing the goals and targets for sustainability performance. Additionally, it involves determining the organizational responsibilities, data collection methods, and reporting requirements to ensure effective monitoring and management of sustainability initiatives.

Footprint Inventory Scope

The footprint inventory scope defines the scope of the footprint calculation for the reporting organization. You can use the Manage Footprint Communication app to select the footprint inventory scopes needed to make the calculated footprints available to other systems such as SAP Sustainability Control Tower for consumption. You can also use the app to set the calculation variants needed for communicating footprint to systems like SAP Sustainability Control Tower.

Note

A calculation variant determines how the footprint inventory is calculated. It's formed by combining two or more calculation methods.

To communicate the footprint to SAP Sustainability Control Tower, the first step is to go to the Manage Footprint Communication app and set the scope definition. Then select the calculation variant that you want to communicate to SAP Sustainability Control Tower.

After that, save the footprint communication settings.

Now you're ready to use the calculated corporate footprints from SAP Sustainability Footprint Management in SAP Sustainability Control Tower.

Integrating with SAP Sustainability Control Tower

You can use the integration between SAP Sustainability Footprint Management and SAP Sustainability Control Tower to communicate corporate footprints calculated in SAP Sustainability Footprint Management.

The following video shows how the integration between SAP Sustainability Footprint Management and SAP Sustainability Control Tower is designed to provide a seamless flow of sustainability data.

Import From SAP Sustainability Footprint Management

When you want to use corporate and product-level Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission data calculated in SAP Sustainability Footprint Management, you can use the Import form SAP Sustainability Footprint Management option in the Manage ESG Data app.

This functionality enables the import of the actual GHG emissions as CO2 equivalents from SAP Sustainability Footprint Management at the corporate level.

The following video shows the steps to import data from SAP Sustainability Footprint Management.

The calculated footprint results from SAP Sustainability Footprint Management are automatically mapped to the SCT CO2e Emissions data provider interface based on the location ID and plant ID. The system runs quality checks and enables the user to publish the data to further visualize the emissions in the GHG dashboards and steer the mid- to long-term GHG reduction ambitions based on yearly targets.
