Predictive Analytics Models for Monitoring Slow-Moving Materials

In the previous demo that introduced the Inventory Analysis Overview page, you could discover the Slow or Non-Moving Materials app. This app allows you to monitor the slow-moving and non-moving materials for which you are responsible, and to control how much capital is tied up in the slow-moving items, for example, by checking the total value in your chosen display currency.

To help you monitor materials with low consumption, the app uses the Slow-Moving Indicator that represents the ratio of consumption to stock. The Slow-Moving Indicator allows you to compare different materials in terms of (slow-moving) consumption. This allows you to identify and compare critical materials based on your own criteria.

An embedded predictive functionality helps you to analyze the evolution of the Slow-Moving Indicator over a selected period of time. When the predictive model is active, the system calculates a predicted future value based on your historical data of how the Slow-Moving Indicator will perform over the next 3 months. The Slow or Non-Moving Materials app displays the predicted data as an orange line.

This image is a screenshot of the Slow or Non-Moving Materials application, showing the predicted Slow-Moving Indicator for the next 3 months.

You can enable this predictive functionality by activating a version of the two predefined predictive scenarios MMSLO_CONSUMPTION_02 (Consumption Data for Slow or Non-Moving Materials) and MMSLO_STOCK_LEVEL_02 (Stock Level Data for Slow or Non-Moving Materials). To do this, you create a new version by training the model with different data sets using the Intelligent Scenario Management app, and then activate the newly created version.

If this predictive functionality is not enabled, the Slow or Non-Moving Materials app will not display a line chart.

Watch the interactive demo to learn how to train and activate the predictive models to forecast slow moving indicators for your materials.
