Creating a Virtual Server in Elektra Dashboard

Hello and welcome to the Elektra Dashboard Walkthrough. Today we're going to create a virtual server. When you go to Converged Cloud, global.cloud.sap you arrive at the landing page. From here, you can click Login or hover over one of the dots on the map to highlight a region where you want your project started. We're going to click on NAUS-1 to start. Next, you will select a Domain. Domains in SAP Infrastructure as a Service are containers for projects, users, and groups that define administrative boundaries. One benefit for implementing a domain system is to separate overlapping resource names and administrative access. For this course, we're going to click on MONSOON3. You have to use your Sign-in information to start the multi-factor authentication process. Once you have the request for sign-in, pull up your Authenticator app on your phone. You will be logged into your domain once you have gone through the multi-factor authentication process. Let's look at what you can see on your Domain homepage. This includes Domain Configuration, a list of all your projects that you have access to, and a lot of other useful information. Within each domain, there are projects. We will go to CC Demo. The Project Overview page opens up. From here we can start building up that server. A few things that you see on this Project Overview page are a lot of the Converged Cloud services or features under Compute, Containers, Automations, Authorizations, and so on. From here, you can build your project creating servers, floating IPs, shared object storage, and so on. For instance, after clicking Servers, you'll see a list of previously created servers, if there are any, for your particular project. We're going to go through the process of creating a new server. Click Create New. And name your Server. We'll just call this Test. then you can select your Availability Zone. So within NAUS-1, you can pick D, B or A. I'm going to change it to A. And for the security groups field, I'm just going to leave it as the default, but you can create your own security group as well. For the key pair field, you'll notice at the top, it gives a warning that without a key pair, you can't access my server via SSH. However, just keep that in mind when you are creating your servers, you may need to go in and create a key pair for the Flavor field. Choose the Flavor you want your server to be. So, for this instance, we're going to do this one. You can check whether or not you want a custom root disk. For the VM image, you can pick if you want Windows or Linux. In this demo, we're going into a Windows machine. For the Private Network field, choose a network. We will choose a private network for this demo. You can also create your own network. And for the User Data field, you can add automation. If you click the Automation button, don't delete anything that shows up in the box below. Once you're done filling out the details, click Create. You can wait till the status turns active. This concludes the process of creating a virtual server.
