SAP Maintenance Assistant Overview
SAP Maintenance Assistant is a mobile solution that enables a maintenance technician to perform daily tasks related to asset management. It is the Go-to application for customers of SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
Using SAP Maintenance Assistant, a maintenance technician has the tools to improve workplace safety and optimize asset life and reliability. The application streamlines processes by eliminating paperwork and shortening work cycles. SAP Maintenance Assistant accesses the SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution and empowers the work force to inspect, maintain, and repair assets in the field from their mobile devices.
SAP Maintenance Assistant is a predictive asset management application that encompasses a series of processes required to assure superior asset performance. Through using SAP Maintenance Assistant, you can achieve operational excellence by collaborating on asset information, predictive maintenance, and procurement of spares and services.

A typical SAP Maintenance Assistant technician process is as follows:
- Technician downloads work orders generated through planned, predictive, or corrective processes
- Technician travels to location of equipment under maintenance
- Technician captures field data while performing equipment maintenance work.
- Technician reports time consumption
SAP Maintenance Assistant Application: Main Components
Maintenance Requests
Maintenance Requests are used to document maintenance tasks completely. You can use them for preliminary planning and execution of future maintenance orders.
Maintenance Orders
Maintenance orders are assigned to you from the back end. A maintenance order is assigned to you because of a customer issue or a planned repair job.
Notifications
A notification is assigned to you when there is an unplanned malfunction with objects you require to perform your planned work that you need to repair. A notification could also be assigned to you when you perform maintenance work at a site.
Supporting Route in the Map
You can view the route you need to take on the map. The stops of the route will be arranged according to the earliest scheduled start and to the latest scheduled start, allowing you to easily plan your trip. Note that routes will appear on the overview and map detail pages.
Technical Objects
A technical object can be either a functional location or an equipment.
Measuring Points and Readings
Measuring points are associated with a technical object.
Labor Time
While you are working on your jobs and notifications, they are automatically tracking your time for you. However, you can manually modify your time using the Labor Time tab.

Create an emergency work request | Technician can create an emergency work request using the notification context property. This allows for expedited maintenance processing in the event of an emergency. |
Edit an attachment | User can edit and annotate images that have been added as attachments in the application. |
Clearing reservations on final confirmation of an operation | Technician has the option to clear reservations when creating a final confirmation for an operation. If the technician chooses, all open reserved stock will be cleared. |
Completing an operation using a consolidated completion flow | Technician can create confirmations for multiple operations at once, as well as update the related maintenance requests. |
