Unless you have been living in a cave for the past year, you must be aware of the topic everyone is talking about – generative artificial intelligence, or gen AI.
As with all technological advances, gen AI can be used for good or for bad. So, while it can be fun to play around with creating absurd images, or getting help from an AI tool to write that work e-mail, cybercriminals are also using AI in harmful ways.

Let’s try a quick 'true or false' round. Are these statements true or false? Scroll to the end of the unit for the answers.
a) Gen AI uses smart technology to find online threats fast.
b) Gen AI can protect digital information.
c) Gen AI data is always encrypted so it is safe.
Think about this: Everything you put into a prompt can get extracted by a large language model. And you cannot be sure how it is being used. So, never put personal data like your CV, home address, or credit card number into an AI tool. This data can be used to steal your identity, money, or private information.
Answers: a) true, b) true, c) false
