Maintaining Business Partners

In this lesson we will introduce the concept of the business partner which are all external entities your company does business with. You will see how the business partner master data is structured and how to define them as customers and suppliers.

Your company, like every company doesn't operate in a bubble. It purchases raw materials and parts from other companies to produce, sells the products to customers, cooperates with banks, has employees and so on. All these relationships are managed with a central type of entity in SAP S/4HANA, the business partner.

Your procurement department has found a new supplier for tyres for your forklifts. To be able to create the purchase order for tyres, you need to create the business partner master data and create the supplier for the purchasing organization. Later, when the goods are received and invoiced, you need to be able to post the invoice to your company code. You must understand how to create the business partner and maintain all the relevant data for these roles.

The sales department has informed you they need to enter an order for a sale from a new customer as soon as possible. You need to maintain the business partner master record for the responsible sales organization and also the company code to be able to bill the customer for the order. You need to understand the relevant data and roles you need to maintain for the business partner.
