As part of managing the projects in SAP S/4HANA you need to maintain groups and hierarchies for reporting and allocation purposes.
Global (or universal) hierarchies are maintained centrally in the Manage Global Hierarchies app. Hierarchy types exist for numerous master data types, for example, for company codes, G/L accounts, cost centers, profit centers and WBS elements.

As overhead projects consist of one WBS element only, a global hierarchy for WBS elements also creates groups for projects.
Global hierarchies can be used in allocations and, after being activated, in all analytical reports.
