How to Create and Deploy a Build in the Cloud Portal - SAP Commerce Cloud

Hi, my name is William and in this video, you’ll learn how to build and deploy your code to an environment in SAP Commerce Cloud Portal. This video assumes you've already hooked up your code repository to an SAP Commerce Cloud subscription. For more information on how to do that, please watch the "Connect Your Code Repository" video. Here I am logged in as a Developer in SAP Commerce Cloud Portal. First, I'll select Builds from the left navigation menu. I can see a list of existing builds. To create a new build, I'll click the "Create" button and enter the build details. I'll give my build a memorable name. In the "Git Branch or Tag" field, I'll put the name of the branch or tag I wish to build and click "Save". The system displays the status "Scheduled", which means that the build is scheduled to run. Once the build process starts, the status changes to "Building", and when the build process is complete, the status displays either "Success" or "Failed". On this page, I can see the status of my build and download the build log. The log shows all the steps that were taken to create the build. Once my build status has changed to "Success", I can select the "Deploy to Environment" button. For the target environment, I’ll select the environment that I previously created. For the database action, I have the option of initializing the database; "Migrate Data", which I would select when I have made changes to my type system; and if there are no database changes, I can select “No Migration Required”. In this case, it's the first time I'm deploying my code to this environment, so I'll select "Initialize Database". I’ll also need to choose one of the deployment methods. “Rolling update” means that there is no downtime for your application, but the deployment process will be slower. As this is the first deployment and there is no operational storefront, I'll select the "Recreate" option. This is a faster deployment mode which activates a maintenance page on your storefront until the deployment process has completed. Finally, I'll click the "Deploy" button to start deploying my build. I can monitor the status of the deployment on my specific build page. I've now successfully built my code and deployed it to my environment. To learn how to access the storefront associated with my build, please see our video tutorial, "Manage Endpoints in the Cloud Portal". That wraps it up for this video. Thanks for watching!
