Hello and welcome to microlearning, importance of login name and mail ID while creating new user in CBC. Our agenda is to know details on login name and email ID in CBC system. And what are subject name identifiers and how they affect the user creation and logins. Myself, Akshay Kahare, SAP S/4HANA Cloud Product Expert from Product Success and Cloud Co-Innovation Team. User creation in CBC is done via a non-productive IAS system and there are two ways to create the user. Mass upload via a CSV file or individual user creation. While we create a new user for CBC, it is mandatory to provide an email for the given user. System allows us to create the user even without any login name. However, there is an underlying concept of Subject Name Identifiers which turns into effect while user tries to login into the CBC system. So what is Subject Name Identifiers? The Subject Name Identifier is a profile attribute that Identity Authentication sends to the SAP Central Business Configuration application. The application then uses this attribute to identify the user. Let's see a quick system demo. Access the Tenants Administration Console of the Identity Authentication Service. Under Applications and Resources, choose the Applications tile. Choose the application created for SAP Central Business Configuration. On the Trust tab, under Single Sign On, there will be Subject Name Identifier. By default Subject Name Identifier will be maintained as login name otherwise the user will fail to access the SAP CBC system. It is interesting to know, only CBC system is having Subject Name Identifier as login name. Otherwise, all other S/4 systems have subject name identifiers as email. Hence, login name act as authorization agent and is important to maintain it in user details to avoid any access issue. Users have both the options to login in system via login name as well as email ID. In case login name for user is not maintained in the Identity Authentication Service, user access will be restricted. So we learned, importance of login name and mail ID in user creation. What are subject name identifiers? An access issue in central business configuration. We hope you enjoyed this microlearning video.
