Objective

Watch the video to learn about segmentation.
Now that we've successfully recapped our Segmentation, let's move on to explore further.
Besides using the steps in the previous module to create Segments, there are a few other methods you can use to create and define a Segment.
In order to create a Segment based on user session data, choose User Session in the dropdowns of the Condition Builder when adding a rule to our Segment.

Note
If this option is not available, reach out to your WalkMe contact to have the Session option added to the User Session Condition Builder dropdown.
User Variables are the most widely used and versatile rule type when creating Segments. Depending on their configuration, variables can store information about a user’s role, access level, and even time within the organization.
Variable names and values must be configured within the environment and can then be read by WalkMe to segment items.

If we have previously set up IDP Integration, we can create a Segment using the imported attributes by navigating to IDP integration in the dropdown of the Condition Builder when creating our Segment.
Like variables, this information is integrated from the organization and can then be read by WalkMe to Segment items.

This is done by clicking the square icon next to the deployable name in the Editor. Once we have selected all the items you want to Segment, click on the three-dot-menu at the bottom right-hand corner of the editor and select Assign Segment, a menu will appear containing all available Segments.
From there, simply check the desired Segment or Segments and click Done.

You have learned about various types of Segmentation Methods.
In this unit, you explored the importance of purposeful segmentation for enhancing user experience. Here are the key takeaways:
