Validation: Handover to Manufacturing
Validation and Handover to Manufacturing marks the transition from product development to production preparation.
After all modules and the overall product have been successfully validated, the Engineering Manager documents the validation results and records the current status of the design data. This ensures that the product definition is complete, approved, and ready for the next phase.
Following this approval, responsibility is transferred from the engineering organization to the manufacturing organization, where the required activities for production planning, manufacturing preparation, and industrialization are initiated.
At this stage:
- Master data, such as products and material BOMs, is extended with plant-specific data
- Classification is completed
- Engineering Change Management is implemented to control further changes
