Updating System Parameters
Parameters are site-level controls that are unique for each SAP Ariba solution.
Application-specific parameters can only be modified by SAP Ariba, but a particular set of parameters can be modified by Customer Administrators in the Intelligent Configuration Manager (ICM) section of their Administration page.
Intelligent Configuration Manager (ICM) is the end-user solution for partners and customers, which allows them to manage configurations across various SAP Ariba services in one centralized location, including their Parameters.

Note
Find more information in the AR730 SAP Ariba Administration: Intelligent Configuration Manager course.
Selecting the Parameters option from the Sourcing and Contracts tab within the ICM will open the Manage parameters page.

The New Value column is where administrators can make changes to the settings and add the edits to a package.
Below are noteworthy system parameters discussed within SAP Ariba Strategic Sourcing deployments:
- Allowable Project Type specifies the project type that the system allows the project owner to create. The default allows creating both full and quick projects.
- Enable Private Messaging adds the option to specify one or more specific participants in the Compose Message area of an event.
- Enable RFX Custom Templates should be set to true to allow users with template-creation permission to create templates.
- Restrict Copy Project To Owner restricts the copying of projects to just the owner.
- Email Approval Enabled specifies whether you want to enable email approvals in your configuration. If set to Yes, users can approve or deny approvables by responding to notification messages. If set to No, this feature is disabled.
Note

After review, testing, and approval, the package can be deployed and ultimately migrated to production if necessary.
