Improving Customer Support with Customer Coupons

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to create a Customer Coupon and show its use in the context of a customer engagement using the Assisted Service Mode.

Understanding Customer Coupon Features

As a marketing manager, one of the key challenges Chris faces is designing personalized coupons to deliver targeted discounts and promotions to specific customers. This approach not only offers tailored support but also helps to enhance the overall shopping experience.

Fortunately, the customer coupon module is equipped with the features he needs to succeed. Let’s take a closer look at these key features, and later, we’ll watch a demo video to see how to create effective, personalized offers that genuinely connect with individual customers.

Creating and Managing Customer Coupons

The customer coupon module allows for the creation and management of unique Customer Coupons, offering more flexibility than traditional single-use coupon codes.

Simply navigate to the Coupons node (1) in the Backoffice Administration Cockpit and create a new customer coupon (2):

The screenshot shows navigating in Backoffice: Marketing > Coupon Management > Coupons, then selecting Customer Coupon to create a new one.

This special coupon, like a single code coupon, has a unique code, name, description, validity period with start and end dates, and active status (1):

The screenshot displays key properties of a customer coupon. Beyond standard fields like coupon code, name, description, validity period, and active status, it includes three additional features: Assignable in ASM, Campaign URL, and the Sent Customers search button.

However, it includes three crucial additional features:

  • Assignable in ASM (2): This crucial setting determines whether a customer service agent can directly assign the coupon to a customer through the Assisted Service Mode. This allows for targeted support and personalized offers.

  • Campaign URL (3): A unique URL is automatically generated for each coupon. This URL allows customers to claim the coupon independently, either through direct communication or marketing campaigns.

  • Find "Sent" Customers (4): This search function enables quick identification of all customers who have received and activated a specific coupon. This is helpful for tracking campaign effectiveness and customer engagement.

After creating a customer coupon by configuring all the necessary fields described above, remember to use it as a condition within a promotion, just like a standard single or multi-code coupon.

Activating Customer Coupons

After creating a Customer Coupon, there are two ways to activate it for registered customers:

  1. Assign via ASM: A customer service agent can directly assign a coupon to a customer during an ASM interaction. This provides immediate support and a personalized offer tailored to the customer's needs. This is particularly useful for resolving issues or incentivizing repeat business.

  2. Claim via Campaign URL: Customers can claim the coupon using the unique URL provided. This allows for broader reach through marketing campaigns or email communications. Customers can use this URL to activate their coupon at their convenience.

Later in the lesson, we'll review the details through a demonstration.

Managing and Using Customer Coupons on the Storefront

Once a customer coupon is created and activated, it can be managed and used on the storefront.

Two key features enhance the customer experience:

  • Status & Notification: This feature, located on the My Coupons page (1), enables status notifications, reminding customers about their available coupons before they expire (2).This helps maximize coupon usage and prevents potential loss of revenue.

This screenshot illustrates how to navigate to the My Coupons page to view the available customer coupons assigned to the current customer. It also highlights the notification indicating that a specific coupon is nearing expiration.
  • Apply on Cart Page: Customers can easily apply their customer coupons (1) directly on the cart page (2) during checkout. This streamlined process improves the overall shopping experience. This screenshot shows the customer's cart page, highlighting an available customer coupon that can be clicked to easily redeem it for the current purchase.
