Migrating an SAP HANA Service for SAP BTP, Neo environment

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to migrate an SAP HANA service for SAP BTP, Neo environment to SAP HANA Cloud

Migration Landscape Overview

In this lesson, we're going to show you how to perform a migration from an SAP HANA Service for SAP BTP, Neo environment to an SAP HANA Cloud database instance using the Self-Service Migration for SAP HANA Cloud.

The image shows the landscape used for the migration.

The image shows an overview of the SAP HANA Service on Neo Environment to SAP HANA Cloud landscape with all the important input data needed by the self-service migration tool.

Note

This scenario only migrates the catalog and data to SAP HANA Cloud. Migration of XS Classic and SAP HANA repository content or other design-time artifacts is not supported.

During the migration, the self-service migration tool requires some input before the actual migration run can start. The self-service migration tools requires the following input:

  • Migration Name – Give a short descriptive migration project name.

We will use: Neo to HC Self-Service Migration.

  • SAP BTP Region – This is the SAP BTP region of the source database.

    We will use: Europe (Frankfurt).

  • Technical Subaccount Name: – The self-service migration tool requires the technical subaccount name in the Neo environment where the SAP HANA Service is located.

    We will use: pvwaf4nsum.

  • Source Database ID:– The DB/Schema ID listed in the Databases & Schemas list.

    We will use: neosource.

  • Account Username – This is the user name that can be used to connect to the SAP BTP Neo environment.

    We will use: P1234567890.

  • Account Password – This is the password for the user account P1234567890.

    We will use: Welcome1

    Note

Please note that Welcome1 is NOT a strong password and shouldn't be used during a real migration.
  • Database Username – This is the dedicated migration user account created on the source database during the preparations steps.

    We will use: MIGUSER.

  • Database Password – This is the password you specified during the creation of the migration user.

    We will use: Welcome1

    Note

Please note that Welcome1 is NOT a strong password and shouldn't be used during a real migration.
  • Target Instance – This is the name of the SAP HANA Cloud target database.

    We will use: HC_Neo_Target.

  • Target database Username – This is the database administrator user name created during the SAP HANA Cloud database deployment.

    We will use: DBADMIN.

  • Target Username Password – This is the password you specified during the deployment of the SAP HANA Cloud database.

    We will use: Welcome1

    Note

Please note that Welcome1 is NOT a strong password and shouldn't be used during a real migration.
