Introducing Agentic Technology

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to understand how to deliver an engaging introduction to agentic technology and what content to include, so participants are prepared for the hands-on workshop activities.

Course Content

The workshop begins with a short round of introductions among participants, followed by a 20-30 minute presentation to introduce the concept of agentic technology.

This introductory segment should help participants understand what agentic technology is and why it matters, especially in contrast to more traditional forms of automation or AI.

Your presentation should address the following questions:

  • What is agentic technology?
  • How is it different from other automation or AI approaches like process automation or generative AI?
  • What types of use cases are a good fit for agents and which ones aren’t?
  • What are some real examples of agentic solutions, ideally connected to the topics or departments relevant to this workshop?

To help you prepare, we’re providing a starter slide deck. You’re welcome to use it as-is, but we encourage you to adapt the content to your audience, especially by including examples that feel relevant to their work.

What are AI agents?

Whenever possible, prioritize live demos over static slides or videos. Seeing agents in action makes the technology feel more real – and keeps energy high in the room.

If you’re not comfortable delivering this part yourself, consider inviting an expert with hands-on experience in building or working with AI agents to lead the session.

Wrap up this section with a short Q&A to make sure that everyone is aligned and ready to dive into the team activities.

This presentation is delivered to all participants together before they split into breakout teams for the interactive part of the workshop.
