Using Microsoft Excel Templates for Reports

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe how to use a Microsoft Excel file as a report template in SAP Fieldglass.

Microsoft Excel Templates for Reports

You can create a Microsoft Excel template to attach to an SAP Fieldglass report. A template is often used to include multiple worksheets with pivot tables, charts, formulas, or formatting in the report output.

Attach a Microsoft Excel Template to a Report

Brian, the Program Office manager for WorkingNet Networking Inc., a manufacturer of data networking equipment, recently received a request to create a supplier dashboard based on WorkingNet’s defined key performance indicators (KPIs). He discusses this with you, WorkingNet’s SAP Fieldglass administrator, and you decide to use an Excel template to attach to the report in SAP Fieldglass.

First you build a report to pull the data needed for the supplier KPI dashboard. Then, you run the report, exporting it as an XLSX file, and save it locally. Next you format the report worksheet to fit the dashboard needs.

Now you need to attach the newly created Excel template to the report. Here’s how you do that.

Summary

This lesson teaches how to attach a Microsoft Excel template to an SAP Fieldglass report to deliver pre-formatted, multi-worksheet outputs like KPI dashboards.

  • Excel template: a pre-formatted XLSX with worksheets, pivots, charts, formulas, and formatting applied to report output.
  • When used, report outputs adopt the Excel template’s formatting and structures.
