Using Project Controlling Reports

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to use SAP S/4HANA embedded analytics

Project Financial Reporting

You need to identify the main analytical apps to use to ensure a good follow-up of your projects.

You want to review the planned and budgeted data for your projects in an SAP S/4HANA report and discover the possible display and editing settings. You want to understand how to customize the report layout and save your custom layout for future use.

reporting Depending on your needs, you can use different apps:

  • Apps to monitor projects: Project Financial Controller Overview and Monitor Projects.
  • Apps to follow-up on actual and plan data of projects: Project Financial Booklet - Professional Services and Project Cost Report – Line Items.
  • Apps to check the budget and commitments on projects: Project Budget Report.

Reporting apps will enable you, depending on the specific app, to access an overview of costs, budget, and plan data for your selected projects.

This screenshot shows that the Project Financial Controller Overview app allows the controller to get an overview of the main project data on one single web page.

The Project Financial Controller Overview app shows the main information of your project on a single page. The information is displayed on a set of cards. This allows you to focus on the most important tasks and information. Then you can view, filter, and react quickly.

The cards show you the most important information ranked according to relevance. For example, on the Planned Projects card, you can see a list of planned projects that have been created but not yet released and are sorted based on their start date.

Note

It is possible to customize the display of the app. You can hide one of the cards using the Manage Cards feature.

This screenshot shows that the Monitor Projects app gives a more graphical look at the costs of a project.

Through the Monitor Projects app, you can monitor enterprise projects in a graphical way by displaying various costs, such as plan costs, actual costs and commitments, and associated budget. A variance is also calculated.

This screenshot shows that the Project Financial Booklet - Professional Services app allows you to display actual, planned and budget data as well as commitments.

With the Project Financial Booklet - Professional Services app you can view various information of projects. This comprises actual, planned and budget data as well as commitments. The data is displayed in predefined but customizable reports grouped as business pages in business page groups. To analyze overhead projects, you can use the business pages in the Overhead/Statistical Projects business page group. If required, you can customize the report on the business page you chose and save it as a custom view.

This screenshot gives insight into the Project Budget Report which shows plan costs, actual costs, commitments and the budget of a project.

With the Project Budget Report app, you can monitor project costs and budget by comparing the budget with the assigned value (actual costs and commitments). It is also possible to compare available budget and plan costs at individual line item level.
