Fostering Sustainable Impact

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to design follow-up processes and track the execution

Planning follow-up activities

Creating a compelling results report requires thorough work. However, it is not the final step in conducting a successful change management survey. The survey is not an end in itself, but it targets the activities that foster the realization of the project goals.

Paul has conducted his change survey and created a first draft version of the results report. He is well aware that the deduction of measures from his data is an important step. Fortunately, Mira has sent him a one-pager with some general best practices for effective follow-up action planning. Have a look at the chart below:

The graphic titled ‘Best practices for follow-up action planning’ lists five recommendations. It encourages being positive and solution-oriented instead of blaming individuals, looking at the big picture rather than single data points, focusing on a realistic number of activities to avoid over-committing, explaining why not every suggestion can be implemented, and defining a clear action plan with responsibilities and timing for follow-up activities.

Monitoring the implementation

In their regular alignment call on change management for the 4S project, Sandra and Paul discuss how to ensure that follow-up activities from a change survey are actually realized and have the desired impact.
