Using Intelligent Search

Overview

SAP for Me’s knowledge search is an AI-powered solution that helps quickly find relevant and accurate information across SAP’s extensive knowledge base. Unlike traditional keyword searches, it understands the intent behind your query, delivering results that match both the wording and the meaning—whether you're searching for documentation, KBAs, community posts, or embedded product help.

This next-generation search leverages semantic understanding and vector-based retrieval to bridge the gap between what you’re asking and what you’re actually looking for. It’s your shortcut to smarter self-service—designed to reduce effort and increase confidence.

Tips for getting the most from knowledge search

  • Use natural language. The search is built to understand full sentences, so write the way you’d ask a colleague.
  • Include product context. Mentioning the product or module (e.g., "S/4HANA Sales order stuck in processing") improves accuracy.
  • Avoid jargon or acronyms unless common. Use clear terms—unless the acronym is well-known in SAP lingo (e.g., KBA, S-user).
  • Ask a full question. If you're troubleshooting, try queries like: "Why does my report return blank in SAP Analytics Cloud?"
  • Refine instead of repeating. If the first result set isn’t right, tweak your wording—don’t just type the same thing again. Apply filters to help narrow down search results to specific content.
  • Look beyond the top result. Knowledge search ranks based on relevance, but the best-fit answer might be second or third in the list. Not all searches are created equal. To get the best results, here are a few practical tips:
  • Be specific, not vague. Instead of "problems with system," try "how to fix HANA database timeout during backup."
  • Ask one thing at a time. Focused, single-intent questions and keywords lead to more accurate, relevant generated responses. Instead of "How do I configure workflows and also troubleshoot errors and export data," try "How do I configure approval workflows in SAP SuccessFactors."

Benefits of knowledge search

Knowledge search transforms the self-service experience in SAP for Me by:

  • Reducing case creation: Find the solution you need, when you need it—without waiting for a support engineer.
  • Improving accuracy: By understanding intent, the search engine surfaces better matches—even when keywords don’t align exactly.
  • Saving time: Fewer clicks, faster answers, more productive sessions.
  • Learning over time: The AI improves based on what users choose, click, and ignore—getting smarter with use.
  • Unifying knowledge sources: One place to search across KBAs, help documentation, community threads, and more.
