Hi, and welcome to Lesson 2 of Unit 1 to understanding the course scenario. In this lesson, we will explain to you who the target persona for this course is so that we understand who we are looking at here. Then we will provide you an overview of the scenario and what we are targeting as a terraform setup in this course. And then explaining to you the assumptions of the course scenario. Hey, Christian, can you shed some light on the target persona that we are looking throughout the units of this course? Yeah, of course. Throughout this course, we will walk along one specific persona or a group of personas that are in charge of administrating SAP BTP. Let's say Lucy and her team, they are administrators for the subaccounts that are existing on the SAP BTP account of their company. Now, the uptake of the SAP Business Technology Platform really gained speed, and there are a lot of requests for the setup of SAP BTP subaccounts. Now there is just a finite number of team members, so scaling is important. The team really wraps their head around: how can we get things automated. With the increasing number of requests, the team wants to look into Terraform to better serve their internal customers via self-services. The team is not afraid of using command line tools, and for this course we assume that the team is using GitHub for source code management. Having said that, it doesn't matter which source code management you are using, but we have infrastructures code, so of course it is essential that you have source code management in place. With these points in mind about the persona, what are the goals of the team, Rui? What do they want to achieve? Well, let's look into that. The team's goal is to actually accomplish what Christian just said is that the team wants to first understand how to use Terraform for managing their BTP landscape so that they can actually also think about how to use it properly. Then they want to create Terraform script to manage new subaccounts on SAP BTP so that they can serve their internal customers better. And by ensuring that they want to establish rules and naming conventions to ensure that every new sub account is created and maintained according to those rules. They want to rewrite the Terraform script in a way that makes them easy to maintain and to extend. Meaning, whenever a new internal customer comes to a team, they can easily create a new subaccount as well and add services, entitlements to that subaccount. So now, let's see the steps that we want to take together with you to accomplish exactly that. Christian, let's look into the journey for the next units and lessons. Sure. So what you see now on the slide, that's the complete course overview that we will cover. Don't be afraid. We will guide you through each and every step so that you don't get lost. First of all, we want to prepare the setup and understand the basics around Terraform and understand the first assets that you will deploy with Terraform. First things first, we will have one lesson around preparing your Terraform setup on your system. Then we will start with getting into Terraform by configuring the Terraform provider. Setting up your first subaccount with Terraform and then very important inspecting a central aspect of Terraform, namely the Terraform state. This lays the foundation, but then as we mentioned we have to enhance the stuff a bit. So what will be next? Yep, so we will be introducing variables within the first scripts to make them more versatile. We will look as well into locals to make your team's work even easier with regards to establish naming conventions for the subaccount creation. Then, we will be adding more resources like service entitlements to the subaccount, and we will also be setting up a Cloud Foundry environment. There we will also look into the Terraform provider for Cloud Foundry. But we will not stop there, right, Christian? No, we won't. With that we have already quite a solid foundation of what we already set up. But as we mentioned, we want to make things maintainable, so we will take a dive into advanced Terraform concepts. First, we will after the setup of the Cloud Foundry environment move to a multi -provider setup using a second provider setup, besides the one for SAP BTP. Then, as we heard in the goals, we want to show you how you can do a self-service setup and how Terraform can support you there. Then, with respect to the reusable assets, we will also look into extracting code into modules as reusable building blocks. Last but at least, to finish things, we will also look at one concept of Terraform, namely loops. That's something that you will probably stumble across when you want to set up your account via Terraform. And with that, I think we can already wrap up the session, right? Yeah, absolutely. So, what have we learned? What are the key takeaways for you? You learned in this unit the target persona and namely the administrator or the team that is responsible for the SAP BTP landscape. You also learned that the goal of that target persona or the team is to use Terraform to better manage their sub -accounts on SAP BTP to serve their internal customers better. And with that, to improve their operational performance with regards to setting up SAP BTP infrastructure. And we also learned about the steps of our course journey that we will go through together with you for this target persona. And with that, we are done with this unit.
