Creating a System Connection

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to create a New System Connection

Overview

The System Connection is the master connection that links the SAP and SAP Concur systems and facilitates communication between them. The connection is made using the data captured in the System Connection Setup section of the Mapping Document.

The System Connection allows the customer to monitor the status of all APIs and monitor the status of all data flowing back and forth between the two systems. Tools are provided to allow the customer to drill into any issues that come up during data transfer.

Note

During implementation, SAP Concur will help the customer with this process.

Creating the System Connection

Please note that this demo starts with the user already logged in to the SAP site and on the cte_setup page.

The following steps show how to connect the systems using the Direct Connection method with no proxy settings.

Steps

  1. Create a New System Connection

    Accessing the System Connection page.

Select Create Connection from the System dropdown.

  2. Review the Instructions

Navigation to the first step of the setup process.

The left side of the Setting Up the System Connection window displays a high-level overview of the steps that will be completed.

The right side displays any instructions and other information necessary to complete this screen.

    Select the Continue button.

  3. Enter the Basic Information

    2. Select the Back button.

    Note

The color and shape of the icon indicates if the specific API is communicating properly. Green squares mean communication is successful. Yellow triangles or red circles mean there is an issue that must be investigated.

  8. Generate a Refresh Token

Opening the Display Refresh Token page.
    1. Select the new connection.
    2. Select Display Refresh Token from the System dropdown.
  9. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret

    1. Copy and save the Refresh Token with the rest of the connection credentials.
    2. Close the window.
  11. Define the Integration Options

    Reviewing the Integration Activities page.
    1. Select the Integration Activities button.
    2. Select and clear the checkboxes to activate and deactivate the integration options as needed.

    Note

These settings can be modified at any time.

Result

The system connection is complete. You can now configure the rest of the integrations.

Set Up a System Connection

Follow the simulation directions below to practice setting up the system connection.

Once the system connection has been created, you can create the individual data exports and imports in any order they would like. SAP Concur recommends setting up Cost Object Replication first.

Summary

  • Establish the master connection between SAP and SAP Concur to enable secure data transfer and system communication.
  • Follow clear, step-by-step instructions to create, check, and manage the system connection using SAP ICS tools.
  • Enter and verify credentials, generate a Refresh Token, and save connection information for future maintenance.
  • Activate or deactivate integration options to meet customer requirements; settings can be updated as needed.
  • Monitor API status and resolve any issues using provided visual indicators and troubleshooting tools.
