Creating a BDC Connect connection

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to create a BDC Connect Connection

Creating a BDC Connect Connection

If you have already purchased a partner tool, such as Databricks or Snowflake, and want to share data products from SAP Business Data Cloud, you must use BDC Connect.

BDC Connect is more advanced than a standard ODBC or JDBC connection.

There are three main steps to create an SAP BDC Connect connection:

  1. Provision SAP BDC Connect in SAP for Me.
  2. Add the SAP Business Data Cloud source in the partner tool.
  3. Manage your SAP Business Data Cloud formation in SAP for Me.

Watch the following video for an example of how to provision SAP BDC Connect using a Databricks account.

The provisioning process is similar to other partner integrations, such as Databricks.

The primary difference is that you must also configure the external tool to add the SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) connection:

  • Start the provisioning of SAP Business Data Cloud Connect in SAP for Me.
  • Enter the general and quota information.
  • Copy the external system identifier from the external tool and paste it into SAP for Me.
  • Copy the invitation link from SAP for Me and paste it into the external tool.

For more detailed information on the SAP BDC Connect provisioning process, refer to the Help Documentation.

Summary

In this lesson, you learned how to provision a BDC Connect tenant to connect to an authorized partner solution.

  • BDC Connect provides more functionality than standard ODBC/JDBC connections, enabling secure data product sharing with external platforms.
  • The process involves three steps: provisioning BDC Connect in SAP for Me, adding the BDC source in the partner tool, and managing the formation.
  • You must retrieve the external system identifier from your partner tool and enter it into the BDC Connect configuration.
  • You must also copy the provisioning invitation link from SAP for Me into your partner tool to establish the connection.
