Designing Group Models for Customer Accounts

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to design Group Models that can hold multiple customer accounts under a single category.

Group Model Management

SAP Customer Data Cloud Group Model Management is a robust feature that allows you to define groups within your customer data, accommodating multiple users under a single category. This functionality allows you to categorize customers based on various criteria using defined group structures. By default, a customer can be a member of up to 15 groups.

Understanding Group Models

Create Model interface for defining Fan Club Group schema with group fields, relationship schema, field configuration options including type, access control, validation rules, and field management controls.

Group models are essential for organizing customer data when dealing with relationships beyond individual accounts. They allow you to represent structures like families, companies, or any other type of association where multiple accounts are linked. Effective group models are crucial for targeted marketing, personalized experiences, and streamlined data management.

Examples of Groups:

  • Family Accounts
  • Company Accounts
  • Party Accounts

Group Models: Organizing Accounts Efficiently

Group models provide a way to organize multiple accounts under a single object type within the Data Store. This is particularly useful when you need to manage and analyze accounts based on shared characteristics or affiliations.

Concept of Group Models

A group model is essentially a container for accounts that share a common attribute or relationship. For example, you might create a group model for "Enterprise Customers" or "Customers in the EMEA Region." These models allow you to perform aggregate analysis, apply targeted marketing strategies, and manage accounts more efficiently.

Use Cases for Group Models

  • Customer Segmentation: Group customers based on demographics, purchase behavior, or engagement level.
  • Regional Management: Organize accounts by geographic region for localized marketing and support.
  • Partner Management: Group accounts associated with specific partners for performance tracking and incentive programs.
  • Industry Classification: Categorize accounts by industry for targeted sales and marketing efforts.

Configuring Group Models in SAP Customer Data Cloud

In this video, you will see a demonstration of how to use Group Models in SAP Customer Data Cloud to manage family-based subscriptions. We will walk through a simple B2C (Business-to-Consumer) scenario to show how you can fulfill specific functional requirements, such as defining member limits and setting up distinct customer roles for owners, adults, and minors.
