Why do we need the settings?
The planning area created needs to be assigned in the order-based planning application.
To be able to define the related settings and mappings of the planning area in the Settings for Order-Based Planning app, planning levels that can be used in order-based planning need to be created, as discussed later in this unit.
This is done by assigning attributes to the different planning levels in the OBP Planning Levels app. The attributes assigned in the planning levels can point to several planning areas. All attributes that are used in OBP planning levels should be mapped to attributes in the planning area.
Planning Area Selection
In the header section of the app, you can select the planning area you want to assign for order-based planning. To view the planning areas that can be assigned, use the downward arrow, which activates a dropdown menu.
The planning areas listed in the dropdown menu are grouped by the integration profile that is assigned to them.
Planning-Area-Specific Settings
Planning Area Specific Settings are shown in Figures below.

Settings for Order-Based Planning
To add a new planning area that you can use in order-based planning, select Add Planning Area and choose the desired planning area from the list.
Among planning areas based on flexible master data, there is no Operative Planning Area. Data can be integrated or maintained in any planning area version that can store master data. No further actions are required to finalize your planning area assignment.

Activating the Planning Area
To upload data into a planning area and perform your planning tasks, you must first activate the planning area.
When the planning area is active, the Real Time Integration (RTI) Profile can be created.
By copying from sample SAP7F, the settings for order-based planning are maintained.

Version-Specific Settings
Specific Key Figure Assignments
Assign the key figures to be used in the order-based planning processes with their period type. For example, you specify here which key figures represent the different stock types, and whether they are considered in daily, weekly, or monthly periods.
Copy Function
You can copy the key figure selections and any other settings that you have specified for a particular planning area version and paste them to another version in the same or a different planning area. Under Version-Specific Settings, go to the version whose settings you want to reuse and choose Copy Version Settings. Then, go to the version to which you want the settings copied, and making sure that you are in Edit mode, choose Paste Version Settings.
