The system running the SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server must be an ABAP system, with at least SAP NetWeaver 7.02 (basis support package 8), and with an ABAP stack using SAP Kernel 7.20 (64BIT Unicode) patch level 110 or higher.
To connect to an SAP HANA database using a database connection, install the SAP HANA database client software on the SLT system. For more information, see SAP Note 1597627.
Download all required software components from the SAP Software Download Center, and install them with the SAP AddOn Installation Tool (SAINT) on all SAP ABAP systems or follow the usual installation activities to install SAP S/4HANA.
These include the source system, the SLT system, and the ABAP target system (if you connect to it using RFCs). If your source or target system is a non-ABAP system, you do not have to install DMIS on this source or target system.

The SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server is shipped in an AddOn called DMIS_*. Install the AddOn in your ABAP source system and in the SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server system.
Depending on the SAP NetWeaver version in the ABAP source system, you might need to use a different DMIS version. This is outlined in the previous table. You must install the AddOn DMIS_2018 or DMIS_2020 in the SLT server and the ABAP source system. However, the following exceptions apply:
- If your ABAP source system is based on SAP NetWeaver 4.6C, install the AddOn DMIS_2010.
- If your ABAP source system runs an application that is based on DMIS_2010 (for example, TDMS 3.0 or SAP Landscape Transformation version 1.0), it is not necessary to install DMIS_2018; the installed DMIS_2010 AddOn is sufficient.
- If you use the functionalities already included in S/4HANA.

Access to ABAP source systems using SAP LT Replication Server takes place exclusively through RFC connections. For more information about security-relevant information concerning RFC, see the SAP Library on SAP Help Portal.
For non-ABAP source systems, a database connection must be established to transfer the data from the source to the SAP LT Replication Server. For more information, refer to the relevant database vendor documentation.
If any of the participating systems are in a public network or are connected to a public network, then you must establish suitable protection mechanisms such as introducing a firewall.
The SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server and the ABAP source system use the authorization concept provided by the SAP NetWeaver AS for ABAP. Therefore, the recommendations and guidelines for authorizations, as described in the SAP NetWeaver AS for ABAP Security Guide, also apply to the SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server.
Depending on the system and the support patch level, different roles and authorizations are required for the user. You can generate roles using the profile generator (transaction PFCG).
