Improved Processing of Employee Master Data Replication for High-Load Scenarios

The point-to point Employee Data replication from Employee Central to Employee Central Payroll uses parallel processing by replicating several employee bundles at the same time. When the replication report is executed (usually through a batch job), a single query processes employees from Employee Central in bundles of 200 and calls the replication Web service for each bundle simultaneously in the Employee Central Payroll system.

While this approach is efficient, there are some exceptional scenarios where the load is so high that it causes some issues. Issues may arise, for example, when load testing is performed or when a mass data change is made in Employee Central (like a one-off bonus payment) for a large number of employees. In such scenarios, some employees are processed multiple times instead of once.

With this feature, the performance of such exceptional scenarios is improved by making sure that all existing replications that are already in the queue are completed before another replication (another batch job or program instance) is processed.

We're making this enhancement to reduce system performance issues and unnecessary confirmation messages to Employee Central.

Configuration Requirements

For Employee Central Payroll, Synchronization Support Package SPC5 must be installed in your system. Please note that you can't use the feature as a whole until the support package mentioned has been released. The full documentation will be made available then too.

What's Changed

How it looks now

In the current release, the point-to-point framework offers improved processing where all the employees that are already in the replication queue are completed before another replication job is triggered. This means that when the employee replication queue includes pending items, an error message (as shown in the picture) is written to the log and the new job is skipped.

In the previous release, the point-to-point framework did not wait for existing replication messages to be finished before triggering a new replication job. As a result, in high-load scenarios, some employees were processed multiple times, which led to performance issues.

Deprecation of Pay Statement (Fiori-like) Integration for Employee Central Payroll

Pay Statement (Fiori-like) integration will reach end of maintenance on April 1, 2022 and will be deleted on October 20, 2024.

Key Dates

Future dates are subject to change.

MilestoneDateDefinition
End of DevelopmentOctober 15, 2021The deprecation milestone after which SAP stops enhancing a product or part of a product. You can continue to use the software, but you should begin planning for a time when it will no longer be available for use. We still fix high-priority bugs.
End of MaintenanceApril 01, 2022The deprecation milestone after which SAP does not fix bugs or deliver patches for the software. SAP continues to answer your how-to questions. We strongly encourage you to adopt an alternative method for your business scenario.
DeletedOctober 20, 2024The deprecation milestone when a feature is no longer available for productive use. You should now be using an alternative method for your business scenario.

We’re deprecating Pay Statement (Fiori-like) integration because the Pay Statement (direct) integration has been available since H2 2020. With H1 2021, the Pay Statement (direct) integration is enhanced with the option to enable additional custom key figures. Pay Statement (direct) makes Pay Statement integration easier as it doesn't require replication of payroll results.

If you’re using the Pay Statement (Fiori-like) integration, please migrate to the new Pay Statement (direct) integration.

FIE Absence Data Import for Spain

You can now directly import files from the National Social Security Institute (INSS) to Employee Central Time Off using a report and replicate the data to Employee Central Payroll.

Files sent by the INSS called FIE reports are used to inform companies when an employee is sick. As of April 2023, employees no longer have to send medical certificates to their employers to actively inform them that they're sick. Employers are directly informed about all sickness entries that have been registered by doctors using the FIE report.

We've developed this feature to allow FIE reports to update absences in Employee Central Time Off using an API and replicate the absence data to the Absences infotype (IT2001).

Configuration Requirements

For Employee Central Payroll, Synchronization Support Package HRSPC5 must be installed in your system. Please note that you can't use the feature as a whole until the support package mentioned has been released. The full documentation will be made available then too.

What's Changed

You can now run an FIE report to import absence data to Employee Central Time Off.

Engagement Card for the United States

We've created a new report to get withholding tax information, address change information, and a change to the marital status of employees, and then display an engagement card in any of these cases.

We've created report RP_HRSFEC_PTP_BSI_ENGAGE_CARD to get information about employees for whom no data has been entered in infotype Withholding Info W4/W5 US (IT0210), to get information about an address change in infotype Addresses (IT0006), or a change to the marital status in infotype Personal Data (IT0002). The system then triggers an engagement card and displays a link to the BSI ESS service.

We developed this feature as a means to remind employees to enter the correct tax data.

Configuration Requirements

For Employee Central Payroll, Synchronization Support Package HRSPC5 must be installed in your system. Please note that you can't use the feature as a whole until the support package mentioned has been released. The full documentation will be made available then too.

What's Changed

You can now display an engagement card on the home screen with a link to the BSI ESS service where you can edit the employee data.
