Introduction
SAP Integrated Product Development (IPD) offers powerful visualization tools that enhance collaboration and decision-making throughout the product lifecycle. These tools enable users to gain a deeper understanding of product designs, identify potential issues early on, and communicate design details effectively to stakeholders. This lesson focuses on three key visualization tools within SAP Integrated Product Development: Annotate, Materials, and Markers.
Animations are very helpful in creating augmented visualizations like visual work instructions. However, sometimes additional information is needed to help the end users of the visualizations to better understand what is happening.
Basic editing features like Annotations, Materials, and Markers help users to read the visualization better.
These three tabs provide access to tools in the right-hand side panel, allowing users to easily explore the different features available under each tool. The Annotate tab activates the Note Assistant tab, the Material tab activates the Materials tab, and the Markers tab activates the Navigation Targets and Info Card Preview tabs.
Working with Annotations, Materials, and Markers
Creating an annotation is straightforward. Drag the desired annotation style from the list and drop it onto the highlighted node where the marker should appear. To edit the text, double-click the annotation. Select the annotation if you want to move it to a different location.
Materials can be updated by selecting the objects that should receive the material, then dragging a material from the list and dropping it onto the 3D view.
Markers involve a few more settings. First, select a folder containing the visualization that you want to link to. Then, drag the visualization onto the object in the scene that should link to that visualization. You can further select and move the marker to position it correctly within the scene. Then, to modify elements such as the Name, Symbol, Navigation Target visualization, or Viewing Template, you can select a marker and Edit.
