Sorting Data

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to Sort data.

Sort Dimensions

Sorting is accessed either from the Analysis ribbon or from a context menu.

Two options for sorting dimensions in the crosstab: use the Analysis ribbon or right-click and use the context menu options

There are three basic approaches to sorting dimension members:

  • Sort Ascending - Ascending sort by the currently selected dimension’s current member display type
  • Sort Descending - Descending sort by the currently selected dimension’s current member display type
  • More Sort Options - Opens a sort by dialog, allowing you to chose more sophisticated sorting techniques
Three dimension sorting options: ascending, descending, and More Sort Options

Sort Measures

You can sort measure data by values. If you have multiple measures in your crosstab and sort the values of one measure (for example, Sales Volume), the other cells in your crosstab are also affected by the sorting.

Sort Data

As an analyst, you want to sort certain data sets using the sort options in Analysis. You need to analyze an InfoProvider from your RWB BW system, instead of from the CIA BW/4HANA system.
