SAP have a long tradition of delivering content with its software solutions to help customers jump-start their implementations. This is also true of SAP S/4HANA embedded analytics.

For SAP S/4HANA embedded analytics, the delivered content includes a comprehensive virtual data model built from thousands of CDS views, and ready-to-use analytical apps for all lines-of-business across many industries. In this lesson we focus on the SAP-delivered analytical apps.

SAP provide a very large number of analytical apps. To make it easy to locate them, SAP have organized them by business user role, industry, line-of-business and by application type.

New apps are continually added by SAP, and existing apps are frequently enhanced.

Most of the apps are relevant for the cloud and on-premise editions of SAP S/4HANA. Some apps are only relevant for cloud or on-premise. Each app provides compatibility information.

Customers can implement the apps as standard or adapt them to their needs.

To discover the delivered analytical content, SAP have documented all analytical apps in a library and provide an easy-to-use exploration tool. The tool is called SAP Fiori apps reference library.

The SAP Fiori apps reference library is maintained and hosted by SAP and can be accessed using a browser. It can be accessed by anyone and requires no log on.

The SAP Fiori apps reference library can be found at the following location: https://fioriappslibrary.hana.ondemand.com/sap/fix/externalViewer/

Once you have launched the tool, use the filters and search fields to focus on the areas of analytics you are interested in. The filters allow you to narrow down the list by SAP solution (SAP HANA, SuccessFactors), by form factor (tablet, phone, desktop) or line-of-business such as finance, sales. You can also search by industry.

Note

The SAP Fiori apps Reference Library is used to explore the analytical apps and not the virtual data model of SAP S/4HANA embedded analytics. To explore the virtual data model you use the View Browser app, the Query Browser app, or Eclipse IDE.

When you locate an app of interest you can drill down to the details of the app which includes a business use-case for the app, screen-shots of the app and all the technical information you need to install the app and enable the business user.

An essential piece of information that is exposed by the SAP Fiori apps reference library is the business role to which the app is assigned. With this information you can assign the business role to the user's profile so that the app becomes available in the SAP Fiori Launchpad of the business user.
