Configuring Ariba Master Data Incremental Field Restrictions

Configuring field restrictions for the incremental load for master data in ECC or SAP S/4HANA on-premise involves setting up rules and conditions that define the fields which are involved in the master data integration using Managed Gateway for Spend and Network. Changes or additions made to such fields are considered eligible for extraction during the incremental process. This process ensures that the updates made to only such specific fields are captured, while updates made to other fields are ignored. To configure the field restrictions for the incremental load for master data, users must follow a manual process to define those fields in the SWEC table.

To configure Ariba master data incremental field restrictions, follow these steps:

  1. Using the transaction code SPRO, navigate to Integration with Other SAP Components>Managed Gateway for Spend&Network>Master Data Integration>General Settings.
  2. Expand the General Settings section, and then choose the IMG-Activity for Configure Ariba Master Data Incremental Field Restrictions.
  3. On the Ariba Field Restrictions screen, choose the master data event that you want to configure and then choose Execute.
  4. On the Ariba Field Restrictions screen, you’ll see the standard delivered expression content that lists all the fields involved in the SAP Ariba master data integration using Managed Gateaway for Spend&Network. Press Ctrl + C to copy the content of the page.
  5. Run the transaction code SWEC (/oswec). Locate the desired object with the same object type, event, and action (create or change or delete).
  6. Choose change mode and choose the line event.
  7. Double-click the Field Restrictions folder (in the left pane).
  8. Choose Condition Editor.
  9. If the direct text entry mode is not configured for your user interface, you will not see the New Rows button. In such case, perform the following steps:
    1. Choose Utilities>Settings.
    2. On the Condition Editor: Personal Settings screen, under User Interface, choose Direct text entry (traditional mode).
    3. Choose Apply Values.
  10. Choose New Rows to include the content for the field restriction. Ensure that the number of rows you add is equal to the number of rows of content that you copied in step 4.
  11. Choose the first row of the column Expression 1 and paste (ctrl + v) the content for field restrictions, which was copied in step 4.
  12. Choose Back.
  13. On the Prompt for Workbench request, enter the Transport Request Number.
  14. Choose Save.
