Discovering Tools within the SAP Enterprise Architecture Framework

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to list SAP Enterprise Architecture tools and their purpose

SAP Enterprise Architecture Tooling

This graphic presents the SAP Enterprise Architecture Framework, depicted as a circular diagram divided into five equal segments. At the center, the core is labeled SAP Enterprise Architecture Framework. Radiating from this center, each segment represents a distinct pillar of the framework. The five pillars—Methodology, Reference Architecture Content, Highlighted is Tooling, Practice, and Services—are arranged equidistantly around the circle, emphasizing how each contributes integrally to the framework as a whole.

The SAP Enterprise Architecture (EA) Tools is one of the pillars of the SAP Enterprise Architecture Framework.

SAP provides a set of tools pertaining to the enterprise architecture domain for SAP, SAP partners, and SAP customers to support various activities along the software lifecycle and customer value journey.

SAP Enterprise Architecture Tools: Objectives

This model emphasizes a comprehensive approach to managing software development and customer engagement. It outlines the stages of the software lifecycle, which include Portfolio Planning, Solution Definition, Solution Design Development Validation, Rollout, Customer Advisory, Service Delivery, and Operations. Below this lifecycle, there's a timeline for the Customer Value Journey, marked with phases like Explore, Vision, Deliver, Maintain, Maximize, and Innovate & Grow.

The aim of SAP Enterprise Architecture Tools is to support users in authoring Enterprise Architecture Artifacts, modeling the business and IT aspects of an enterprise, which support delivering a business outcome. The support is twofold:

SAP teams and partners are enabled to use, document, and deliver reference architecture content along the software lifecycle from portfolio planning and solution definition to rollout.

SAP Enterprise Architects and partners collaboratively support SAP customers in achieving the best business outcome along the customer value journey by discovering and capturing the relationships and dependencies between their business strategy and goals, the ecosystem and business partners, people, capabilities, processes, data, applications, and technologies.

  • Providing an integrated view of Enterprise Architecture Artifacts and data by implementing architecture content fluency along the SAP software lifecycle and customer value journey.

  • Fostering collaboration of different groups and stakeholders across the organization and its ecosystem.

The SAP Enterprise Architecture Tools

The graphic is a circular diagram showcasing various tools within the SAP Enterprise Architecture ecosystem. At the center of the diagram is SAP Enterprise Architecture Tools. Surrounding this are six components, LeanIX, SAP Signavio, SAP for Me, SAP Business Accelerator Hub, SAP Central Business Configuration and SAP Cloud ALM. It represents the connected relationship between these tools and the overall SAP Enterprise Architecture Tools suite.

Here is an overview of SAP Enterprise Architecture Tools, which support the outlined objectives and activities along the software lifecycle, on the technology provider side, as well as on the customer side, along the customer value journey.

SAP LeanIX

SAP leverages SAP LeanIX to document and deliver reference architectures from SAP to partners and customers. At the same time, SAP LeanIX is used by organizations to visualize, plan, and manage their IT landscapes.

SAP LeanIX facilitates business modelling, management, structural analysis, and assists in managing processes, requirements, and risks.

SAP LeanIX’s automated, data-driven approach allows companies to map their "as-is" enterprise architecture, connecting applications to the business capabilities and processes they support, while also designing their ideal "to-be" future state.

SAP LeanIX leverages business process models, created, visualized, and managed in SAP Signavio, or more concretely SAP Signavio Process Manager.

SAP Signavio

SAP Signavio Process Manager is a modelling platform for Business Process Management (BPM) that enables organizations to capture, improve, and maintain their business processes. Users can use the tool to model business processes, simulate and compare processes, outline process interconnections, create shared understanding and create process reports.

SAP for Me

SAP for Me integrates important alerts, metrics, and insights about organizations’ SAP product portfolio in a single access point. It gives users a possibility to explore SAP solution scenarios, which encompass different solution architecture views as introduced by SAP Enterprise Architecture Methodology.

SAP Business Accelerator Hub

SAP Business Accelerator Hub embarks on a digital transformation journey utilizing SAP’s wide range of digital content. It allows browsing through integration content, such as APIs, integration flows, and end-to-end business processes, which encompass different solution architecture views as introduced by SAP Enterprise Architecture Methodology.

SAP Central Business Configuration

SAP Central Business Configuration enables users to scope, configure, and implement end-to-end business processes for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition from one main place. For scoping activities Reference Architecture Content from SAP, which is based on the SAP Enterprise Architecture Methodology is leveraged.

SAP Cloud Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)

This is an application lifecycle management offering for cloud-centric customers. It provides capabilities for the implementation and operations of SAP and non-SAP cloud solutions. Reference Architecture Content from SAP, which is based on the SAP Enterprise Architecture Methodology is leveraged for implementation activities.
