Testing the Extension App within SAP Sales Cloud and SAP Service Cloud Version 2

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to log into SAP Sales Cloud and SAP Service Cloud Version 2 to ensure the embedded app works as expected.

Testing the Extension App within SAP Sales Cloud and SAP Service Cloud Version 2

During its development, the application underwent multiple tests using SAP Build Apps’ Preview mode. The following video showcases a comprehensive end-to-end test of the deployed extension app embedded into SAP Sales and Service Cloud Version 2.

The following steps are covered in this demonstration and test:

  1. The extension app is embedded into the account’s screen within a separate tab.
  2. The extension app properly loads data of the account that is currently displayed in the cloud solution, including contact persons.
  3. The date and time of the meeting can be selected and entered.
  4. The invite text can be translated into other languages.
  5. The meeting can be scheduled, which creates an appointment object in the cloud solution.
  6. The appointment is reviewed and ensured that all details match.

Course Summary

The test confirmed that the app fulfills the use case as described at the start of this course. The app is currently set up to create only one appointment. You can follow the steps in this course to implement the creation of additional appointments.

The sample app that has been developed during this course should be seen as an MVP (Minimal Viable Product). The test has shown some areas that could be improved to increase usability and user experience, such as:

  • Using an alternative Date and Time picker components. Keep in mind that current marketplace components work correctly only on mobile devices.
  • Time zone consideration of the logged-in user of SAP Sales and Service Cloud Version 2. The current app version sends timestamps in UTC. Since users can set a different time zone in the cloud solution’s settings, the app should either adjust the timestamps or at least inform the user that the entered timestamps are in UTC.

This concludes the course Extending SAP Sales and Service Cloud Version 2 with SAP Build Apps.
