Changing Existing Master Data

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Change payroll-relevant employee master data with transaction PA30

Reasons to Change Data

Employee Data Changes

An existing employee may have certain life or job events that trigger edits to their employee information. There are a variety of reasons why employee master data might be changed or corrected in the relevant infotypes.

Complete the interaction below to learn some of the reasons employee data may need to be changed over time.

Employee Data Changes

There is a close connection between payroll and time management as well. There are many entries in time management infotypes (which are numbered between 2000 and 29,999), that are relevant to payroll, such as:

  • Infotype 2001 (Absences): vacation
  • Infotype 2005 (Overtime): additional time over and above their normal hours
  • Infotype 2006 (Absence Quotas): vacation time such as annual leave
  • Infotype 2010 (Employee Remuneration Info): overtime with specific wage types (like when overtime is mandatory)

Maintenance of HR Master Data

Maintain HR Master Data

You can use transaction PA30 (Maintain HR Master Data) to view, create, change, copy, and delete employee master data.

Select Play on the video below to learn how to use transaction PA30 and change master data.

Now that you can change existing master data, the next lesson will move on to something more complex: creating master data.
