In this section, we explain the added value of using the SAP Alert Notification service for the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) when migrating to SAP HANA Cloud.
The SAP Alert Notification service is available in the DevOps portfolio of SAP BTP. It supports the operations team by exposing real-time information, for example, information about the status, health, or progress of implemented solutions. Through the link SAP Alert Notification service for SAP BTP, you find in-depth information on the SAP Alert Notification service.
This lesson focuses on using the SAP Alert Notification service with a database migration through SAP HANA Cloud's self-service migration tool.
The Available Migration Events
The self-service migration tool for SAP HANA Cloud provides migration events. You can use these migration events with the SAP Alert Notification service. Three migration events are available:
- HDB Migration Progress
- Subscribe to this event if you need information about the progress of the catalog-migration step or data-migration step. For example, when migrating to SAP HANA Cloud, you receive an alert every 30 minutes. Refer to HDB Migration Progress for more details on event definition.
- HDB Migration Finished
- Subscribe to this event if you need information about the completion of the catalog-migration step, the data-migration step, or the full migration, when migrating to SAP HANA Cloud. Refer to HDB Migration Finished for more details on event definition.
- HDB Migration Record Count Check Finished
- Subscribe to this event if you need information about the record-count check execution when migrating to SAP HANA Cloud. For more details on the event definition, refer to HDB Migration Record Count Check Finished.
Using the SAP Notification service, SAP BTP users can subscribe to these migration events. When the self-service migration tools trigger an event, a notification alert (such as an e-mail or MS Teams message) sends to the subscribers.
