Knowing Your Upgrades

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe the upgrade process and the upcoming product release.

SAP Field Service Management (Web Applications and APIs) Upgrade Planning Overview

Upgrades in a public cloud system are essential to keeping the software up-to-date with the latest features, security enhancements, and performance improvements, thereby maintaining optimal functionality and security for users. Since SAP Field Service Management is a public cloud solution, SAP proactively applies software updates and patches during defined maintenance windows, notifying customers in advance.

Main characteristics of the upgrades process: upgrades occur four times per year with a transport freeze period of two weeks between Test and Production; upgrades are conducted on weekends, and the system will experience downtime during this period.
  • Four major upgrades every year, occurring in February, May, August, and November.
  • Upgrades occur over a weekend, with the Test system upgraded first, followed by the Production system two weeks later. During this period, transporting configuration between systems on different versions is not recommended and often not technically possible.
  • System downtime occurs during the weekend of the upgrade as per contractual agreements
