Explaining Available Deployment Options

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain the architecture of SAP BIS and deployment options.

Architecture of SAP BIS solution

Facts about the architecture of BIS:

  • SAP Business Integrity Screening is delivered to Customers as two Architecture solutions.
  • One is SAP Business Integrity Screening as a Hub Deployment.
  • The other is SAP Business Integrity Screening as a Add-On in your SAP S/4HANA System.
  • There are different advantages and disadvantages for both options.
  • Both solutions have feature parity.

SAP Business Integrity Screening as Add-on Deployment in SAP S/4 HANA System

Key facts:

  • Embedded usage of BIS in S/4
  • Integration with multiple SAP ERP or non-SAP systems possible (no data replication required for local S/4 data)
  • Better integration possible (e.g. S/4HANA Payment Run, APM)
  • Business content available for native S/4 and replicated ERP data
  • Simplified Landscape
  • AS ABAP and HANA maintenance needs to be aligned across S/4 and BIS
  • Data replication requires a full-use database license if a 3rd party source database is used. A run-time database license sold by SAP for that 3rd party database is not sufficient

For other possible implementation scenarios see Landscape Deployment Recommendations for

SAP Assurance and Compliance Software for SAP S/4HANA (available on the solution documentation page).

SAP Business Integrity Screening Standalone as Hub Deployment

Key facts:

  • Fast & Independent Innovation speed for new BIS releases independent from other products
  • Integration with multiple SAP ERP or non-SAP systems possible
  • No need to migrate SAP ERP (or other systems) to HANA first
  • No performance impact on other applications due to separate deployment
  • No risk of existing SAP ERP (or other systems) regarding performance, patching, downtime…
  • One Additional SAP System Landscape required
  • All business data need to be replicated

For other possible implementation scenarios see Landscape Deployment Recommendations for

SAP Assurance and Compliance Software (available on the solution documentation page).
