Finding Documents

If you do not remember a document number, you can search for documents using either the standard matchcode or a dedicated search transaction.

Now let's have a look at the search possibilities.

The HANA search in the SAP Fiori launchpad enables cross-object document searches. It offers:

• Easy access of search fields from every page

• Support for "wildcard" characters

• Ability to filter search results

A few things to consider before you search for any DIR:

• Object link search for documents is not supported on the following objects:

  • Documents associated to a material BOM

  • Documents associated to a product structure node

  • Documents associated to a product structure variant

• When displaying search results, you can further narrow them down using filters. From the results list, you can navigate to different applications depending on the search method used.

You have created several master data objects for your forklift prototype in SAP. Most of this master data is related to the material. The material may have linked documents, be classified, or serve as the header material for bills of material and routings.

This related master data can be displayed together in a single view using the Product Structure Browser.

If you have created a large number of documents in the SAP system and want to modify them at a later stage, you may no longer remember the document numbers.

For this reason, several options are available for searching for documents. You can use the classic matchcode search or execute a dedicated document search transaction.

You can also use the SAP HANA search from the SAP Fiori launchpad. In this case, you enter search terms, and the relevant documents are returned across different object types.

Finally, you can use the Product Structure Browser. This tool allows you to display all object dependencies on a single screen, including related documents.

To search for existing documents, a dedicated search transaction is available. This transaction provides various search options, such as filtering by responsible person, document status, or related object links.

Since you are working with the SAP Fiori launchpad, the HANA-based search is available. You can use this search either across multiple object types or specifically for a single object type, such as the document info record. Simply enter search terms that appear in the document metadata or file name.

You can use the Product Structure Browser to visualize the object dependencies of a material. This includes bills of material (BOMs) as well as routings. Documents are linked to all of these related objects.
