The Test Automation Tool is embedded in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition and supports automated business process testing. Its underlying Test Execution Service runs on SAP Business AI Platform and performs test steps through a simulated user interface using authenticated virtual test users.
The tool includes preconfigured test automates that align with the manual test scripts in SAP Signavio Process Navigator. When a process, application, or UI field is customized, the related automate must be updated to reflect those changes.
For standard, unchanged processes, SAP also provides Post-Upgrade Tests. With customer consent, SAP runs these tests automatically after each release upgrade. Using Post-Upgrade Tests together with customer-maintained automates can significantly reduce upgrade testing effort.
Because many implementation projects encounter at least one release upgrade, configuration experts should set up each automate as soon as the related process is configured in the test system. This makes post-upgrade validation faster and prepares the customer to maintain automated tests after go-live.
Test plans are created and executed in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, while execution results are also visible in SAP Cloud ALM alongside manual test plans.
