Evaluating analytical and reporting capabilities

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to leverage the built-in dashboard to access operational activities and analytical regulatory KPIs

Analytics in SAP EHS

The Workplace Safety solution encompasses two key areas: managing operational activities and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs).

You can connect to external analytics tools like SAP Analytics Cloud for data visualization and reporting. You can also integrate with SAP Business Data Cloud for cross-line-of-business insights and a holistic view of workplace safety performance.

Managing Operational Activities: Driving Efficiency and Compliance

Managing operational activities effectively is key to driving efficiency, maintaining compliance, and ensuring safe day-to-day operations. SAP EHS Workplace Safety supports day-to-day operations by bringing visibility and structure to critical operational tasks, enabling organizations to plan, monitor, and control activities that support safety and regulatory obligations.

For example, effective task management is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and safety. The task calendar within SAP EHS provides a comprehensive overview of the overall schedule, the status of individual tasks, and the workload of team members. Task calendars enable managers to monitor progress, identify bottlenecks, and reallocate resources as needed to ensure timely completion of critical activities. By visualizing task dependencies and team workloads, you can optimize resource utilization, prevent delays, and maintain a safe and productive work environment. A further app Monitor Tasks allows users to monitor task progress using predefined search criteria with a tabular view.

Analyzing KPIs: Monitoring Performance and Driving Improvement

SAP EHS provides embedded Key Performance Indicator (KPI) insights that offer a real-time pulse on your organization's safety and environmental performance. These insights are readily accessible through intuitive dashboards, providing a clear and concise overview of critical metrics. By monitoring these KPIs, you can quickly identify strengths and weaknesses, track progress, and drive continuous improvement.

For example, the Operational Compliance Overview provides a comprehensive view of your organization's compliance obligations. It displays the applicability and fulfillment status of these obligations at both the corporate and facility levels, allowing you to quickly identify potential gaps in compliance and take corrective action. This overview ensures that your organization is meeting its regulatory requirements and minimizing the risk of penalties or fines.

Similarly, the Workplace Safety Overview provides valuable insights into your organization's safety performance, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) KPIs. This dashboard tracks key metrics such as incident rates, near-miss reports, and lost-time injuries at both the corporate and facility levels. By monitoring these KPIs, you can identify trends, pinpoint potential hazards, and implement targeted interventions to improve workplace safety and reduce the risk of accidents.

In addition, you can gain an operational overview, for example, due or overdue tasks, ongoing investigations, recent risk assessments and so on.

The Hazardous Substance Manager can use the Hazardous Substance Overview app to gain insights of the approved chemicals and the chemical approval status.
