Configuring Clauses for the SOW Template

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to configure default Clauses on an SOW Template.

Clauses

Once the details of a SOW Template have been configured, you can begin defining the clauses and characteristics.

Clauses are the legal terms for standard regulatory governance polices and conditions and may outline the contractual language or agreement between a buyer and a supplier.

Specific clauses can be added to SOW templates so they appear by default when creating an SOW. This is accomplished by attaching a clause from the clause library.

The Clauses section of an SOW template creation page. 3 clauses are listed, and each has a slider bar so that the clause can be resequenced if required. Each also has a gray X indicating that the clause can be deleted.

Configure the SOW Template Clauses

WorkingNet Networking, Inc., a global manufacturer of data networking equipment, is building several new distribution centers in several countries, while simultaneously implementing new logistics software and processes.

Their first new distribution center is being built in a suburb of Atlanta, so WorkingNet will use the new Atlanta hub as their base of operations. They're going to engage CarryAll Consulting, a logistics design and implementation firm, to both help streamline their logistics processes as well as implement the new software.

In order to engage CarryAll, WorkingNet will use SAP Fieldglass to create the statement of work. However, they've never engaged a services provider for this type of work before, so WorkingNet will need to build a new SOW Template to accommodate this project.

WorkingNet wants to include a clause in the SOW that explains the confidentiality required from third-party service providers. This clause has already been defined and added to the clause library.

As the SAP Fieldglass administrator for WorkingNet, you've already completed the first section of the SOW Template by adding details such as who is defining the SOW, whether the template can be used for SOW Bids, and adding relevant currencies.

It's now time to add clauses.

Before that, however, you'll determine whether clauses—and characteristics and SOW workers—should be allowed on the SOW.

This is a continuation of a previous simulation. Please see the lesson Configuring the SOW Template Form Page to review the previous step in the process of creating an SOW Template.

Summary

Clauses can be added to SOW Template from a predefined clause library to ensure that statements of work are compliant with legal terms and requirements specific to a project.

Key Points:

  • Clause Definition: Clauses are legal terms for standard regulatory governance policies and conditions, outlining contractual agreements between buyers and suppliers.
  • Adding Clauses: Specific clauses can be added to SOW templates by default using the clause library, ensuring consistency and compliance across multiple SOWs.
  • Clause Configuration: Decisions such as whether clauses are mandatory, optional, or not used need to be configured appropriately in the SOW template settings.
  • Custom Fields: Custom fields can be added to the SOW template to include additional information specific to the company's needs, such as an Internal Code for reporting alignment.
  • Management Events and Schedules: Settings for Management Events, Schedules, and other characteristics should be set based on project specifics, typically marked as optional to accommodate varying project needs.
