Understanding SAP Ariba Procurement – Master Data

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to define the overview of integrating SAP Ariba Procurement master data and SAP systems.

Integrating to SAP Ariba Procurement

The process flow to integrate to SAP Procurement is displayed.

The data managed by the SAP Ariba procurement and invoicing solution includes the buyer catalogs, transactional data (for example requisitions, POs, receipts, invoices) and master data, such as user, accounting, and supplier data.

The SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway framework enables the integration between the SAP Ariba procurement solution and SAP ERP or S/4HANA on-premise for the exchange of both transactional data and master data.

Integrating Master Data

Master data consists of general information stored in SAP that is used in SAP Ariba Procurement solutions to construct requisitions, receipts, or invoices. Transactional data includes information like invoice, purchase orders, and receipts.

Buyers using the SAP Ariba Procurement solutions integrated with SAP ERP and SAP S/4HANA on-premise can do the following:

  • Perform a simplified master data integration for supplier, supplier location, payment terms, remittance location, and user data between the SAP Ariba Procurement solutions and SAP system.
  • Integrate master data directly from SAP system to SAP Ariba Procurement solutions seamlessly using SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway (CIG).
  • Full master data loads and incremental loads to import changes are supported.
  • Integrate master data from SAP system to SAP Ariba Procurement solutions in a multi-ERP enabled environments.

SAP Ariba Procurement solutions import only the data they need to create properly formed purchase orders, invoice, and receipt information for the SAP system. SAP Ariba Procurement solutions can import the following master data from the SAP system:

A graphic displaying the master data is displayed.

Considerations for Multi-ERP Configurations

Master data integration between SAP ERP and the SAP Ariba Procurement solutions supports export of master data from SAP ERP to the SAP Ariba Procurement solutions in multi-ERP-enabled environments.

Buyers using the SAP Ariba Procurement solutions integrated with SAP ERP can enable master data integration for multi- ERP enabled systems and specify the site, or realm, to which they want to export the master data.

You can export the following master data from SAP ERP to multi-ERP-enabled systems:

  • Organizational Data
  • Accounting Data
  • Cross-application Configuration Data
  • Supplier Related Data
  • User Related Data
SAP Procurement solution parent and child realm is displayed.

Multi-ERP systems are structured with a single Parent realm and one or more Child realms.

  • Common master data is loaded into the Parent realm
  • Site-specific data and transactional data remain separate and are loaded into the Child realm

One Parent realm groups all the Child realms together. Each Procurement Child realm can be associated with one ERP system. There is no limit to the number of Child realms associated with a Parent realm.

Master Data Transfer Options – Master Data Native Interface

Master Data Native Interface (MDNI) is another available option to transfer master data from an SAP ERP and/or SAP S/4HANA on-premise system to SAP Ariba Procurement solutions.

MDNI is currently only available for SAP Ariba Procurement solutions integrated with SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA on-premise using SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway (CIG).

Highlights:

  • MDNI supports the export of master data from multiple SAP on-premise systems.
  • Master data is sent from the SAP system to MDNI, through CIG - in cXML format.
  • The master data exported from each SAP system is identified by a System ID.
  • The feature uses standard web services in the SAP system.
