Early Release Series Presentation

SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition Early Release Series Manufacturing (Release 2308)

Reduce redundancies, eliminate overlapping processes, and turn serial processes into concurrent ones to

Design products with real-time supply chain considerations to eliminate the typical lag to manufacturing.

Create an ethically and environmentally responsible product development process that is driven by sustainability analytics

Create a single digital thread of common data that is shared across all manufacturing relevant entities

  • As an alternative to the Manage Material Coverage (F0251) app, you can use its successor Manage Material Coverage (F0251A) to analyze and resolve material coverage issues displayed in this app
  • Depending on which app you want to use, you can now enable direct navigation to the successor app using a new switch that is available from the app settings in the user actions menu. If you activate this switch, the system automatically navigates to the Manage Material Coverage (F0251A) app when the following UI elements are selected:
  • Manage Material Coverage button
  • Related Action link in the material quick view
  • Manage Material Coverage link in the projected stock overview, which is accessible from the stock availability chart

The switch is deactivated by default. If you do not activate it, the system navigates to the Manage Material Coverage (F0251) app just like in previous releases.

17.7.6.3  Order Split with Actual Costs

As of SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2308, Order Split with Actual Costs is available. This provides you with the option of splitting an existing production order, for which processing may have already begun, into two separate production orders (parent order and child order). You perform the order split by invoking the production order in change mode and selecting the operation as of which you wish to split on the operation overview (the split operation must be an operation of the standard sequence) by choosing Functions Split Order Order Split with Actual Costs is only enabled for event-based production orders (order category 10) and is subject to the following restrictions:

  • Joint production order with co-products cannot be split.
  • Orders without an inventory material as receiver cannot be split.
  • Orders in a collective order cannot be split.
  • Rework operation cannot be split.
  • Parent order and child order must be in the same company code.

19.4.4  Order Split with Actual Costs

For production orders that are settled by event-based production cost posting, the system reposts the proportional actual costs determined by the split quantity from the parent to the child order. For production orders that are settled by period-based production cost posting, you still need to distribute the costs at order split using a by-product. The system automatically determines which split to use depending on how the production order is settled.

19.4.3  Manage Production Orders

The enhancements for the Manage Production Orders app support you even more in your daily work as a production supervisor.

Additional Details

The following enhancements have been made to the app: • The button for checking the availability of components has been renamed from Check Components to Check Availability. In addition, further options have been added: You can now not only check the availability of components but also reset already committed quantities and perform the availability check again. By sorting the worklist according to your priorities, you can thus commit the available quantities according to your needs. You can now check the availability for several production orders at once. • The Related Apps button now offers you navigation options to apps related to general functions for production orders even if you have not selected any order in the worklist. • You can now display information on serialized materials. You can use the new Serial No. Profile filter to display your orders with serialized materials and the respective profile in the worklist. • If you work with serialized materials, the system displays a Serial Numbers section on the detail page. This section lists the serial numbers that are assigned to or produced with the respective order. By default, the Serial Number, Product (Material), and Equipment columns are displayed. You can add further columns according to your needs. From the Serial Numbers section, you can navigate to the following apps: Manage Material Serial Numbers (F6879), Display Serial Numbers (F5147), and Display Material Serial Number (IQ03). You can export the list of serial numbers as spreadsheet or PDF file. • You can now use a full-text search field for the Serial Numbers and Components section on the detail page.

19.4.5  Confirm Production Operation

With the Confirm Production Operation app, you can partially or completely confirm production operations. This app has been enhanced to support you even more in your daily work as a production operator.

Additional Details

The following enhancements have been made to the app: • You can now confirm suboperations. • On the entry page, you can enter a suboperation number together with the order and operation number. The respective entry field offers you a value help. [->Remember: For suboperations, you can confirm activities and material movements but you cannot record yield, scrap, or rework quantities.] • If you already use a barcode scanner to enter the order and operation numbers, note that you might need to adapt your barcodes to include the suboperation number, if required. While generating the barcode, add the 4-digit suboperation number to the already existing 16-digit order and operation number. For example, 000001122402\t0010\t0011 (\t\t). The last 4-digit suboperation number is optional, and is to be added only if your orders contain suboperations. • You can now use the app with your smartphone. • The app is enabled for the use on smartphones. • You can use a smartphone for scanning the barcode. A respective button has been added to the entry page. • You can now include shift-related information. • You can select a shift for the activities to be confirmed if shifts are configured in your system.

Effects on Configuration

To be able to record shifts together with your confirmations, the following settings are necessary in your configuration environment: • In the configuration activity Define Shift Sequences, you have created at least one shift grouping with shift definition and shift sequence. • In the configuration activity Define Confirmation Parameters, you have enabled shift-related settings for your plant and production order type. • You have assigned the shift grouping to the plant and work center for which you want to enter confirmations.

19.4.11  Manage Process Orders

The enhancements for the Manage Process Orders app support you even more in your daily work as a production supervisor.

Additional Details

The following enhancements have been made to the app: • The Issues column in the worklist now contains an icon to show if any material movements for a process order failed. From the popover of the Issues column, you can view the number of failed material movements and then directly navigate to the Reprocess Failed Material Movements app. The information on failed material movements is displayed as a seperate section on the detail screen. • You can now display and filter user-defined statuses for process orders in the worklist. With user-defined statuses, you can control which business transactions are enabled or disabled for a process order in a certain status. • For defining your area of responsibility, the new My Area of Responsibility - Production Supervisor app has been integrated. If you now define your area of responsibility for the first time or change it using the app settings, the system will take you to the new app where you make your settings. Navigate back by selecting the Back button in the launchpad shell bar. See Effects on Existing Data for information on data migration. • If you have entered a long text of more than 30 characters together with a confirmation, you can now display that confirmation long text in the Confirmation section on the detail screen. If the confirmation text is shorter than 30 characters, the text is directly displayed in the Confirmation Text column. If it is longer than 30 characters, a link is displayed that opens a popup with the long text. • You can now display the Time Zone column in the worklist and the corresponding filter field in the filter bar. The column displays the abbreviation for the time zone of the production plant, meaning all displayed dates and times refer to this time zone. The time zone is automatically displayed in the Order Information section on the detail screen. You can also display it in the Components and Order Schedule section.

Effects on Existing Data

If you already work with the Manage Process Orders app and have therefore already defined your area of responsibility inside the app, the system will migrate your data once you start the app. The system informs you with a success message when the migration is done. If you start the My Area of Responsibility - Production Supervisor app and define your area of responsibility there before starting the Manage Process Orders app, the system compares your settings:

• If you have made settings in the My Area of Responsibility - Production Supervisor app only, no migration takes place. • If you still have your area of responsibility defined in the app, the system migrates this data and adds it to your settings in the My Area of Responsibility - Production Supervisor app.

Effects on Configuration

To be able to display user-defined statuses in the Manage Process Orders app, you have to define your status profiles. In your configuration environment, use the search function to open the following activity: Define Business Transaction Control. For more information, seeConfiguration Environment of SAP S/4HANA Cloud .
