Staying certified
To stay certified, learners are requested to return at least once a year to demonstrate that their knowledge remains current and extend the validity of their certification. With the new Stay Certified approach, learners can choose how they demonstrate their knowledge. AI-roleplay assessments are the recommended way to stay certified, allowing learners to practice and demonstrate their skills in simulated, real-world customer interactions. Multiple-choice assessments are available as an alternative. A 90-day renewal window gives learners flexibility to complete their assessment while maintaining 12 months of certification validity from their initial exam.

An SAP Certification exam is a comprehensive evaluation of the skills required to earn a certification in a specific SAP solution or role. SAP's new certification approach leverages a practical, performance-based format and validates applied skills in real SAP environments through system-based and scenario-based assessments. Stay Certified assessments, on the other hand, focus on maintaining an existing certification by confirming that learners' knowledge remains current as SAP solutions evolve. The recommended option is an AI-roleplay assessment, which simulates real-world customer interactions. Alternatively, learners can complete a multiple-choice assessment. With an SAP Learning Hub subscription, learners also have access to dedicated learning materials to prepare for the assessments. Stay Certified assessments are accessible only with an SAP Learning Hub subscription.

With the introduction of SAP Universal ID, all your SAP Certification related activities, like seeing your passed certifications or following your certification validity will require a valid SAP Universal ID, with two e-mail addresses assigned. SAP Certification currently offers two complementary exam approaches that will run in parallel through 2026. Some certifications continue to use proctored exams, where candidates answer multiple-choice questions within a secure, time-bound, and supervised environment. In November 2025, SAP introduced a practical, open-book exam format
evaluates how candidates apply their skills in real SAP environments through system-based and scenario-based assessments.
