Staying certified - FAQ

In a cloud first world, products and solutions change much faster than on-premise, requiring professionals to update their skills more regularly. The goal of this transformation is to support skilled talent with the latest knowledge on an ongoing basis and to enhance the quality of your learning experience.

The redesigned SAP Certification program will make it easier and faster for professionals to get and stay certified, to identify next career steps and goals, and ensure they have the latest skills and valid credentials on the newest SAP innovations tailored to their role and responsibility.

2. How can I stay certified? Which steps should I follow?

Please follow step-by-step guide to find out how to get certified.

3. Do I need to have a subscription to SAP Learning Hub to stay certified?

Yes. To stay certified, you must have a subscription to the enhanced and redesigned SAP Learning Hub. With one single subscription, you can get access to all resources you need to prepare for certifications, take the certification exams with four included certification attempts and stay certified with access to stay certified assessments and preparation materials. You can purchase a subscription on SAP Learning Hub or by contacting your SAP representative. SAP PartnerEdge members can learn more about and subscribe to SAP Learning Hub, partner edition.
Alternatively, if you don’t have an SAP Learning Hub subscription, you still have the option to purchase and retake an SAP Certification exam every year.

4. How do I activate my new SAP Certification features in SAP Learning Hub?

New features to get and stay certified, including updated certification status, ‘My Learning’ personalized dashboards, and access to learning resources and assessment exams to stay certified, will be available in SAP Learning Hub as of April 2024. Activating these features requires you to log into SAP Learning Hub with your SAP Universal ID, link it with a secondary email address, and add your existing accounts.

If this activation is not completed, your certifications automatically expire on March 31, 2025.

5. If I am already an SAP certified learner, how do I stay certified?

To stay certified, learners are requested to return at least once a year to demonstrate their knowledge and extend the validity of their certification. With the new Stay Certified approach, you have more choice in how you demonstrate your knowledge, including multiple-choice assessments and short, practical AI-roleplay assessments.
Check your ‘My Learning’  personal dashboard in the redesigned  SAP Learning Hub to understand the status of your certifications and explore recommended pathways forward. You can also search for certifications and access the latest certification information on the SAP Certification transformation page.

6. How do I transfer my certificates?

With SAP Universal ID there is no need to transfer your certificates anymore when you are an SAP customer. When you switch your employer, you just need to add your new employer user email to your SAP Universal ID and remove the old employer's email.

If you work for an SAP partner company, you’ll still need to request a certification transfer. Simply create a ticket with the Partner Support Team to move your certification from one S-User ID to another.
Before you submit your request, make sure your new S-User ID is already linked to your SAP Universal ID to avoid delays.

To contact the Partner Support Team:
• Go to the SAP Partner Portal
• Log in to your account
• Click the “Get Help” widget on the right-hand side
• Choose Contact Form and select "User Management" as the category and "Certification Transfer" as the subcategory.

In case you have created multiple SAP Universal IDs please reach out to the Customer Interaction Center support to get them deleted so that only one is left that you can continue to use. The certificates will be deleted if the associated SAP Universal ID is deleted. Therefore, it is important to keep the SAP Universal ID associated with certificates active.

Note

SAP Universal ID is a lifelong user account, and each user must have only one. Deletion of a Universal ID doesn’t impact learning hub licenses, subscriptions, learning journeys and any S/P-user ID associated with the email. All remain active after deletion and can be carried over to the Universal ID you decide to retain. The Customer Interaction Center can check the Universal ID that has active certificates and provide advice on the correct deletion.

7. How to request a special extension to stay certified?

You should consider contacting support if:

  • Certified professional is 6 months out of projects due to any reason (need to be proven by an employer statement).
  • License still in purchase/ renewal by SAP.
  • Natural disaster in location of certified professional.

8. My existing certification expires during the transition period. What if it hasn’t transitioned to the new format before my expiration date?

If you have an existing SAP Certification, you can stay certified by completing a Stay Certified assessment within the 90-day renewal window. Depending on your certification, you may be able to choose between a multiple-choice assessment and a practical AI-roleplay assessment. Your certification remains valid for 12 months from your initial exam.

9. What is the 90-day early Stay Certified window?

The 90-day window is the period before your certification expiry date during which you can complete your Stay Certified assessment and receive a 12-month extension.

The window opens 90 days before your expiry date and closes on the expiry date itself. If you pass the assessment at any point within this period, your next expiry date is set to 12 months after your original expiry date — not after the date you completed the assessment.

10. If I complete my Stay Certified assessment early in the 90-day window, will I lose the remaining time on my current certification?

No. Your extension is always calculated from your original expiry date, regardless of when within the window you complete the assessment.

For example: if your certification expires on December 1 and you pass the assessment on September 15, your new expiry date will be December 1 of the following year.

This means you receive the full 12-month extension whether you complete the assessment early or close to your expiry date.
