Introducing SAP BTP - Integration Suite

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe the basics of SAP BTP - Integration Suite

SAP BTP Integration Overview

The SAP BTP Integration Suite is the strategic integration service within SAP BTP. It facilitates the integration of business processes that span different departments, organizations, or companies. It acts as a "broker" between the systems that can be connected with each other. The integration service then arranges for the technical communication between the components and the correct "translation" of data.

The SAP BTP Integration Suite helps you to connect cloud and on-premise applications with other SAP and non SAP cloud and on-premise applications. This service has the capabilities to process messages in real-time scenarios spanning different companies, organizations, or departments within one organization.

This service runs in the Neo and Cloud Foundry (CF) environments. Integration content artifacts designed in Neo environment is also compatible in CF environment with certain limitation as mentioned below.

Note

There are currently certain limitations when working in the Cloud Foundry environment. For more information on the limitations, see SAP Note 2752867.

While SAP Business Accelerator Hub is the future go-to place for discovering all integration content, SAP BTP Integration design time enables customers to actively customize integration scenarios using a Web application. The service supports two integration runtime environments for executing the integration content:

Runtime Environments to execute integration content:

  • SAP Application runtime service (cloud-based)
  • SAP Process Orchestration (on premise, as from release 7.5)

Easy Integration of Cloud Applications into an Application Landscape

The figure, Overview of SAP Cloud Integration Capabilities, gives an overview of the capabilities of SAP Cloud Integration.

SAP BTP integration supports end-to-end process integration through the exchange of messages.

Features

Implement diverse scenarios

Integrate processes and data in application-to-application (A2A) and business-to-business (B2B) scenarios.

Connect to multiple endpoints

Integrate various applications and data sources from SAP and non SAP, on premise, as well as the cloud. The SAP Integration Suite with a set of pre-built adapters.

Customize SAP integration scenarios

Benefit from prepackaged integration content to jump-start integration projects and to set up productive scenarios with only minimum effort. You can extend predefined integration flows according to your requirements.

Develop custom adapters

Use the adapter SDK to build your own custom adapters for additional connectivity needs.

Access public APIs

Customize the access to the SAP Integration Suite our public OData APIs.

Set up secure and reliable communication

Use our core integration and security capabilities for the safe and reliable processing of messages. Configure the way how messages are exchanged within an integration scenario so that the data involved is protected according to the newest security standards.

Implement various communication modes

Orchestrate business processes and integrate data in synchronous as well as in asynchronous scenarios. The SAP Integration Suite supports reliable messaging processes based on asynchronous decoupling implemented by using queuing mechanisms.

Integrate with SAP Process Orchestration

Use the SAP Integration Suite and SAP’s on-premise integration Platform, SAP Process Orchestration, seamlessly integrated.

The figure shows the different usage options.

The SAP Integration Suite offers the following usage options:

Data Integration
Enables bi-directional data integration in real time between on-premise and cloud applications and SAP BTP.
Integration Flow
Enables bi-directional message integration in real time between on-premise and cloud applications and SAP BTP.
OData Service
You can develop OData services that expose existing data sources, such as SOAP, as OData endpoints.
Value Mapping
Mapping Values between Inbound and Outbound Messages.
