Setting up the Systems

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to identify the scope and the preparation steps for the integration between SAP Commerce Cloud and SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

Scope for Integration

In the earlier lessons, we've discussed multiple integrated processes, along with inbound and outbound communication flows between SAP Commerce Cloud and SAP S/4HANA Cloud. In this unit, we'll explore the overall scope for the integration, and later delve deeper into the individual steps.

The integration scenario, covered in this unit, begins with the replication of master data to SAP Commerce Cloud. The conveyed material, price and stock, business partner, and related contact person are used for the creation of a purchase order in the B2B storefront of SAP Commerce Cloud. Later, the purchase order is replicated to SAP S/4HANA Cloud as a sales order for fulfillment, and a sales order confirmation is sent back to SAP Commerce Cloud.

Integration Process Flow between SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SAP Commerce Cloud - Illustration showing the steps involved: replicating master data from SAP S/4HANA Cloud to SAP Commerce Cloud, creating sales orders in the B2B shop of SAP Commerce Cloud, replicating sales orders to SAP S/4HANA Cloud for fulfillment, and sending sales order confirmation back to SAP Commerce Cloud

The process to integrate SAP Commerce Cloud and SAP S/4HANA Cloud involves establishing communication between the two systems to enable seamless data exchange and synchronization. This integration allows for a unified view of customer, product, and order data for a more streamlined and efficient business operation. In the upcoming lessons, we'll explore how to configure each solution, replicate data, place an order and confirm order status.

Note

This course provides an overview of the configuration process for both SAP Commerce Cloud and SAP S/4HANA Cloud, illustrating how to set up each system to meet specific business needs. However, it is important to note that detailed, step-by-step instructions will not be covered in this course. The goal is to familiarize you with the configuration environments and provide the knowledge needed to navigate and manage key settings within both platforms.

Cloud Integration Automation Service

The setup instructions, offered in this unit, are intended to manually configure the integration between SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SAP Commerce Cloud, through SAP Cloud Integration (SCI).

To assist in simplifying your processes, we strongly recommend preparing the integration implementation by using the Cloud Integration Automation Service (CIAS). With the included project management tool and complementary support information, CIAS helps reduce the time needed for manual configuration tasks, many of which are customer-specific and must be implemented by customers or integration consultants / developers.

Cloud Integration Automation Service (CIAS) provides a guided workflow, featuring the following:

  • Customer-specific system information (for example, target URLs)
  • Reusable configuration settings between tasks
  • Automated execution capabilities

Learn more about CIAS, or discover the steps to start a new workflow with the Cloud Integration Automation Service Launchpad by viewing the video in Easy to Use CIAS

Preparation Steps

Preparation of the Systems

Preparation Steps for SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SAP Commerce Cloud Integration - Step-by-Step Guide: Step 1 involves defining appropriate integration data, while Step 2 focuses on preparing SAP Commerce sample catalogs. Essential for successful integration setup.

Before beginning the configuration of the systems, it is crucial to complete specific preparation steps to enable integration between SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SAP Commerce Cloud. You must:

  1. Define the appropriate integration data by selecting or creating:
    • Sample master data
    • Sample organizational data
    • Other sample data

    Examples can include:

    • Materials
    • Parties: Sold-to party, Ship-to party, Bill-to party (will be created later as SAP Commerce Cloud B2BUnits)
    • Create contact persons and functions (will be replicated as B2B Customers)
    • Create new characteristics and classes
    • Enhance material master data with pricing and discount condition types
    • Enhance material master data with classifications
    • Other data that includes sales organizations, distribution channels, divisions, shipping points, and tax categories
    • Stock or inventory data
  2. Prepare the SAP Commerce Cloud sample product catalogs in the stage and online versions. For more information refer to the links below:
