Managing SAP Fiori Groups

Objectives

SAP Fiori Launchpad Designer

The tool SAP Fiori Launchpad Designer (FLPD) offers an environment for customizing and configuration. It is an SAPUI5 application following the SAP Fiori design guidelines, but is not an SAP Fiori launchpad (FLP) app documented in the SAP Fiori apps reference library. It is part of the central UI of every AS ABAP since 7.40, similar to the FLP.

Depending on the host and port, as well as on the client for customizing, the FLPD can be called using the following URI:

  • https://<host>:<port>/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/arsrvc_upb_admn/main.html?sap-client=<client>?scope=CUST
  • https://<host>:<port>/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/arsrvc_upb_admn/main.html?scope=CONF

The FLPD offers the same options for customizing (client-specific) and configuration (cross-client). It is all about handling catalogs, groups, and tiles.

When using the FLPD for customizing, changes performed can be saved as local object for the user doing them (default setting) or a customizing request can be used. When using the FLPD for configuration, changes performed must be saved in a development package and attached to a workbench request. Settings are accessible for customizing and configuration in the upper right corner of the FLPD.

Group Maintenance

You can use FLPD to create groups.

When assigning the group to a role, the prerequisite for the user to see the tiles of the group in the FLP is that the catalogs containing the tile definitions are also part of the user master record. In other words, the source catalog of the tiles must be assigned to the same role or to any other role also assigned to the user.

Create SAP Fiori Groups

Business Example

You want to create an SAP Fiori group and add tiles and links from business catalogs.

Prerequisites

Role was created in exercise Create SAP Fiori Spaces and Pages.

ExerciseStart Exercise

Task 1: Create a group in the SAP Fiori launchpad designer.

Steps

  1. Start the SAP Fiori launchpad designer for customizing your SAP S/4HANA (S4H) system in a web browser and examine the URL.

    1. In the SAP Fiori launchpad of your S4H, choose the SAP Fiori Launchpad Designer - Client Specific tile.

      Note

      You may also start the SAP Fiori launchpad designer for customizing using transaction /UI2/FLPD_CUST in your S4H.

    2. Examine the URL.

  2. Create the group Z_##_BCG_FIN_MANAGEMENT with the title Financial Management ##.

    Hint

    Be sure to enter the ID using capital letters.

    1. In the SAP Fiori launchpad designer, choose Groups.

    2. Choose + beneath the list of groups.

    3. In the Create Group popup, in the Title field, enter Financial Management ##.

    4. In the ID field, enter Z_##_BCG_FIN_MANAGEMENT.

    5. Choose Save.

  3. Add the Manage Journal Entries app of the General Ledger - Journal Entry Processing catalog as a tile to the Z_##_BCG_FIN_MANAGEMENT group.

    1. In the Show as Tiles group, select the tile placeholder containing a +.

    2. In the Catalog field, open the value help.

    3. In the Catalogs popup, in the Search field, enter journal entry.

    4. Choose General Ledger - Journal Entry Processing (SAP_SFIN_BC_GL_JE_PROC).

    5. Choose + beneath the Manage Journal Entries tile.

      Hint

      Do not choose the Navigate Back button at this point. Continue with the next exercise step.

  4. Add the Manage Banks app of the SAP_SFIN_BC_BAM catalog as a tile to the Z_##_BCG_FIN_MANAGEMENT group.

    1. In the Add Tile to Group 'Financial Management ##' window, in the Catalog field, open the value help.

    2. In the Catalogs popup, in the Search field, enter bam.

    3. Choose Bank Account Management - Core Functions (SAP_SFIN_BC_BAM).

    4. Choose + beneath the Manage Banks tile.

    5. Choose Navigate Back.

  5. Change the tile for Manage Journal Entries to a link in the Z_##_BCG_FIN_MANAGEMENT group.

    1. In the Show as Tiles group, click and hold the Manage Journal Entries tile.

    2. Drag and drop the tile in the Show as Links group.

      Hint

      Note the appearance of a red trash bin in the lower right corner while dragging the tile.

Task 2: Assign the group to a business role and test it in the SAP Fiori launchpad.

Steps

  1. Add the Z_##_BCG_FIN_MANAGEMENT group to the menu of the Z_##_BR_TRAINING role. Assign the Z_##_BR_TRAINING role to your user.

    1. In the SAP Easy Access menu of your S4H, search for Role Maintenance or start transaction PFCG.

    2. In the Role field, enter Z_##_BR_TRAINING.

    3. Choose Change.

    4. Choose the Menu tab.

    5. Expand the Insert Node button.

      Hint

      The initial value written on the Insert Node button is Transaction.

    6. Choose SAP Fiori Launchpad → Launchpad Group.

    7. In the Group ID field, enter z_##* and use the value help.

    8. In the dialog box, double-click Z_##_BCG_FIN_MANAGEMENT.

    9. Choose Continue.

    10. Choose Save.

  2. Check if the Financial Management ## group is part of the SAP Fiori launchpad home page of your S4H.

    1. Start or reload the SAP Fiori launchpad home page of your S4H in the client of your choice.

    2. Choose the Financial Management ## anchor at the top.

    3. Operate the apps as you wish.

Group Migration to Spaces

Since SAP S/4HANA 2021 FPS01, the SAP Fiori launchpad (FLP) home page concept using groups is deprecated. It will be replaced by the spaces concept in a future release. SAP announces this at least two releases in advance. For more information, please read SAP note 2970113 – SAP S/4HANA Cloud: Replacement of SAP Fiori launchpad Home Page by Spaces and Pages.

To ease the transition from SAP Fiori groups to SAP Fiori spaces, since SAP S/4HANA 2021 FPS01, groups can be migrated into sections of pages. It is possible to add one group or combine many ones as sections in a new page.

Create Pages from Groups App

Create Pages from Groups is an FLP app based on SAPUI5. It allows to search for groups based on their ID and name or based on roles the groups are assigned to. Every group in the groups table can be expanded to show the tiles and links of the group including their intent and source catalog.

Hint

If the icon for expanding a group is not visible, increase the size of the table, for example, via the button in the upper right corner.

Groups from the table on the left can be added as sections of a page on the right by choosing the add button in the table line or by dragging and dropping. Once a group was added, it stays on the right until deleted or the app is closed. Other groups can be searched and displayed on the left and again added as page section.

When the page sections look fine, a new page can be created migrating all added groups to sections in the new page including all tiles and links. The page can then be opened in the Manage Launchpad Pages app to start editing. Finally, adding the page to a space can be done in the Manage Launchpad Spaces app.

Task 1: Create a Space and Assign it to a Role.

Steps

  1. In SAP Fiori launchpad of your SAP S/4HANA (S4H) system, start the Manage Launchpad Spaces app. Create a space using the following values:

    1. In SAP Fiori launchpad of your S4H, choose the Manage Launchpad Spaces tile.

    2. Choose Create.

    4. In the Transport field, select the transport request provided to you.

    5. Choose Create.

    6. Choose Save.

  2. In the Role Maintenance (PFCG) of your S4H, add the Z_##_SP_FINANCE space to the menu of the Z_##_BR_TRAINING role.

    1. In the Role Maintenance (PFCG) of your S4H, edit your Z_##_BR_TRAINING role.

    2. Choose the Menu tab.

    3. Expand the Insert Node button.

      Hint

      The initial value written on the Insert Node button is Launchpad Catalog.

    4. Choose SAP Fiori Launchpad → Launchpad Space.

    5. In the Space ID field, enter z_##* and use the value help.

    6. In the dialog box, double-click Z_##_SP_FINANCE.

    7. Choose Continue.

    8. Choose Save.

Task 2: Include a Group as a Section in a New Page.

Steps

  1. In SAP Fiori launchpad of your S4H, start the Create Launchpad Pages from Groups app. Include the Z_##_BCG_FIN_MANAGEMENT group as a section in a new page with the following values:

    1. In SAP Fiori launchpad of your S4H, start the Create Launchpad Pages from Groups app.

    2. In the Group ID field, enter z_##*.

    3. Choose Go on the right-hand side.

    4. Drag and drop Z_##_BCG_FIN_MANAGEMENT from Groups to Page Sections.

    5. Choose Create Page.

    6. In the Create Page popup, enter the following values:

    7. Choose Save.

  2. In the Manage Launchpad Pages app, check the content of the Z_##_PG_FIN_MANAGER page.

    1. Start the Manage Launchpad Pages app.

    2. In the Search field, enter z_## and choose Enter.

    3. Choose the Z_##_PG_FIN_MANAGER page.

    4. Check the tiles of the section Financial Management ##.

Task 3: Test the page in the SAP Fiori Launchpad.

Steps

  1. In SAP Fiori launchpad of your S4H, assign the Z_##_PG_FIN_MANAGER page to the Z_##_SP_FINANCE space.

    1. In SAP Fiori launchpad of your S4H, on the Z_##_PG_FIN_MANAGER page, choose the Space Assignment tab.

    2. Choose Manage Launchpad Spaces.

    3. Choose Z_##_SP_FINANCE.

    4. Choose Edit.

    5. In the Search for pages field, enter z_##.

    6. For the Z_##_PG_FIN_MANAGER page, choose Add.

    7. Choose Save.

  2. Check if the Finance ## space with all tiles and links are part of the SAP Fiori launchpad spaces of your S4H.

    1. Reload the SAP Fiori launchpad spaces of your S4H.

    2. Choose the Finance ## space at the top.

    3. Operate the apps as you wish.
