Getting Started with Touchless Deployment in SAP SuccessFactors Incentive Management

Hello and welcome to our video series on Touchless Deployment for SAP Commissions. In this series, we'll introduce Touchless Deployment and give an overview of its functionality. We'll walk through the process to download and extract the client, set up the environment, create change sets and the changelog master, and perform a deployment. We'll perform a few simple changes. First, we'll add a table called Orders to the EXT Schema. The table will contain two columns, Order Name and Value. We'll then add a column to the table called Euro Value and set the value to 15. In this first video, we'll introduce you to the concept of touchless deployment for SAP commissions. We'll give a brief overview, then show the steps to install, configure, and test the connection. Touchless deployment is an optional tool that developers can use to deploy custom code for SAP Commissions without the need for a support ticket. In the SAP Commissions HANA database, the main tables are stored in a schema called TCMP. This schema cannot be customized. all customizations take place in the EXT Schema. In the EXT Schema, customers can store custom tables, procedures, and other artifacts to meet their needs for data transformation,   Customers create these customizations in a lower environment, such as a development environment or sandbox. Without touchless deployment, the only way to deploy custom code to a production environment is to submit a support ticket. This, of course, takes time and makes it difficult to complete customization projects. Touchless Deployment is a REST service that allows the customer to deploy the code on their own. This is done using a database schema management tool called Liquibase. Liquibase is an open source database refactoring tool that allows deployment of custom code to the EXT database schema. Because of this, the change logs and change sets you will create must conform to the Liquibase format requirements. To learn more about Liquibase and its requirements, go to docs.liquibase.com. Let's go over the steps to set up Touchless Deployment. We'll start by creating a role in SAP Commissions and grant a permission to use Touchless Deployment. We'll then create a user, and assign that user to a role. Next, we'll download the Touchless Deployment Client as a .zip file from the SAP Help Portal and extract the .zip file to a local directory. Next, we'll test the connection. Our first step is to create the system user in SAP Commissions   I'll start by creating a role called R-Touchless Deployment. I'll go to the Permissions tab, then select the Administration permission group,   Now I can add a user called UTouchlessDeployment. I'll add a full name and password, and assign the user to the role. Now it's time to download and extract the.tdclient .zip file from the Help Portal  and extract it to a local folder. This.zip file contains a shell script for Unix and a command file for Windows. We need to set three environment variables to associate the client with the SAP Commission system and the username and password we created earlier. The method for setting these environment variables differs depending on your operating system. I'm using a Windows system, so I added the environment variables here. Now we're ready to test the connection. To do this, I'll open a command prompt and change my directory to the location of the client. If I want to see all the valid commands, I can type tdclient.cmd -h. I can see the command to test the connection. Now, let's run the testConnection command. It looks like our connection is successful. That means we're done with setup, and are ready to move on to the next step. In this video, I showed you how to download and extract the Touchless Deployment Client, set environment variables, and test the connection. Thanks for watching!
