Description:

Previously you learned what Organizations are. Now it is time to define your companies Organizations and prepare the input for the workspace.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your task:

Gather your Organizations up to Level 2. As a minimum consider the following Attributes:

  • Name
  • Related Child/Parent
  • Description (if available)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to:

Choose your preferred way (remember the modeling guidelines) by following the recommendations below:

  • Start by thinking:

    • How do you want to structure your Organization in SAP LeanIX?

    • What is the most meaningful structure?

  • Choose max. two dimensions (Fact Sheet subtypes): Even if there is a perceived need to cover more, remember that the Fact Sheet Owners have to maintain the relations and mapping. Getting one group right is better than having two or more incomplete or inaccurate ones.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Metrics:

To ensure proper data setup, we recommend orienting yourself on these best-practice metrics:

Best-practice MetricWhy it's recommended

Level 1 organization: Add a minimum of 15, but no more than 20 to the workspace.

Level 2 organization: Add a minimum of 5, but no more than 10 for each level 1 organization.

Starting with 15–20 organizations at Level 1 serves as a solid foundational starting point. This approach offers a comprehensive overview while keeping ongoing maintenance efforts at a manageable level. Additional organizations can always be added later, as needed..

Add no more than 2 levels of organization hierarchy to the workspace.

To maintain balance between effort and productivity, it is important to avoid excessive granularity

Ensure that at least 80% of business capabilities have a description.

Equally important is establishing a clear, concise, and universally understood definition of organizations. This shared understanding is essential for both your internal teams and external stakeholders, enabling meaningful analysis and actionable insights within SAP LeanIX.
